Hey guys i thought about this little giveaway i wanna do here, a little bit inspired by Teddy Baldasarres latest video.

Here's what's going on.

I want you to build the "best" watch collection for 3000 USD (+-150USD). This can be anything, from a 1 Watch colleciton to 10 watches, whatever, just stay in budget.
We're going off of retail prices here.

The post that get's the most reacts here wins. Giveaway ends on Easter Sunday, the 4th of April.

Please try to include a picture because not everyone knows all the references etc 😄

If you win you get to chose one of these 3 games i have sitting around in my Humble Bundle:

Dirt Rally 2.0

Frostpunk

Darksiders 3

Edit: If it's a tie i will rate which one I like more but the second will also get to chose between the remaining 2 games.

Edit2: because of Edit 1 I personally won't react to any collection, just so you know.

Also, feel free to enter even if don't want to win any of the games, it's just a fun little thing 🙂

i go first but i won't participate (duh). I'm trying to go with pieces that i don't own so it won't be as repetitive.

Yeah man long time no see, I had to finish my education before I could get some free time again.
I have the Mini Turtle in the prospex pepsi spec. I have worn it basically every day for years now, so I think that it is safe to say that I love it. Though I may or may not have bought that Hamilton a few weeks ago.

Niiiice! Feel free to show that off here as well, it's the watch thread after all. A mechanical chronograph is really something every collection should have at some point 😄 Just saw the Sinn 103 St G at a local shop last week and now i am quite tempted. it's got a hefty price too but since it's Limited to 500 Pieces i could probably wear it a bit and then sell it at a profit. Only thing that bothers me is the plexi cristal, although i like plexi a lot 😄

The Dial is really fabulous.

I have always wanted a mechanical chronograph and I knew that I wanted to maximum spend 3k on one as a graduation gift for myself and this together with a used speedmaster moonwatch"spoke to me, but the hamilton just edged out the speedy for me.
I was actually considering that watch as well, just in the none limted editions, but I decided against it because of the thicknes and liked the hamilton design a bit more in the end, but it is a stunner of a watch for sure, especially that green dial. Sinn watches hold their value really well and some limited ones even increase in price, quite a rare sight in this price category.

Well, this is interesting! Sure, let me have a stab at it.

The theme of my collection is "Far East excl. Japan". So expect an amazing value collection.

I'm gonna make it as versatile as possible, so there's a watch for every occasion.

I've had a look and a think, and I've put together a 10 watch collection. Some I own, some I don't.

So, let's get started.

1. Tourbillion: Aesop 7025 ($348.68)

A Watch with a Chinese Tourbillion movement and a pretty astrology themed dial. Probably the cheapest way to get a real Tourbillion movment.

2. Diver: Sea-Gull Ocean Star $308

The classic Chinese dive watch. It's a handsome, slightly rounded dive watch with a nice enamelled caseback. Available in a few colours, including the striking sunburst red.

3. Flieger: Escapement Time Type-A PT5000 Flieger $160

Escapement time watches are a new brand on Aliexpress, and their watches are hand finished by one Chinese guy, using off the shelf parts. They really are fantastic watches for the money, and you can really feel the passion that's gone into making one. The finishing on mine is as good as my Junkers Flieger, that cost a lot more. $160 is for the PT5000 (a ETA 2824 clone) watch, but you can get one with a NH35 workhorse for $99. Get one if you don't have a flieger in your collection already, you won't regret it.

It's also water resistant to 30 bar for some reason, which is a bit overkill for a flieger.

4. Dress watch: Lobinni 1888 Mircro-Rotor $206.64

An understated dress watch with a nicely decorated high beat micro-rotor movement. Lobinni has a pretty good reputation for build quality too.

Spoiler

5. Chronograph Seagull 1963 (HKED later prototype Version) $192.73

Ah yes, the Sea-gull 1963. Probably the only affordable mechanical chronograph (ignoring the other watches with the ST19 movement). The ST19 is a revised Venus Cal.175, which the Chinese bought the tooling for from the Swiss. This particular model I've chosen isn't the most common variant of the 1963 you can find, but is a later model. Looks pretty sharp, doesn't it?

6. Field Watch: Mysterious Code Titanium Field Watch $95.97

Though the branding is a bit of an aquired taste (they changed the brand name on this watch recently, it used to be a lot more subtle which I prefered), there's no arguing with a titanium NH35 field watch for less than $100. It used to be called the "Einsame Reisende" I think.

7. Bronze: Phoibos Leviathan PY027A $369

On one hand, it's a chunky 45mm wide 15.5mm thick bronze diver with a 50 bar water resistant case. On the other, it has the nicest bezel action out of any of my watches, has an open heart, and a double dome sapphire crystal with blue AR coating that really shines beautifully in the sun. I really like how these design elements contradict each other, to make a rugged, but dainty watch.

I think the Leviathan is the most under rated watch in Phoibos's line.

8. Rolex Homage: Cronos GMT Master 2 Homage $364.78

Most of us can't afford a Rolex. Even if you can afford it, the AD might not even let you buy one. That's why Rolexes are so commonly hommaged (and faked, but that's a different subject), and this is one such homage. This has a Hangzhou ETA 2836-2 clone movement, which is a high beat GMT movement.

Cronos and San Martin are the two top Chinese micro-brands right now, and when you buy a watch from them, you can expect very high standards of finishing.

9. Office Watch: Sea-Gull 819.17.6077 $559.30

While some of us don't work in an office (I don't, for example), many of us do. So an office watch is a important category to consider. I also needed to pad my dollar numbers.

This has an ST18 movement, which is a simplified ETA 2892-2, which is the next step up from something like a 2824-2 or a SW200. This watch is also quite unique looking, with a dial with a fine circular pattern and twin indicies, and a twin coin edge case.

10. Vintage: Escapement Time Longines Conquest Homage $185

Vintage watches can be very nice, but most examples aren't reliable enough for daily wear. I have a decent collection of Vintage Ricohs, Mortimas, and Vostoks, but many have niggling problems, are partially broken, or I'm not willing to risk accidental damage to them. Manufacturers have caught on to this, and have released re-issues of their old popular models to mixed reception. The bad thing about these re-issues is, that they can carry quite a price premium over that brands standard models.

So here comes Escapement time again, but this time with a 38mm Longines Conquest homage instead of a flieger. This time they put in a Miyota 9000 series, which enables them to make the watch thin.

11. A Quartz watch.

I was going to choose Escapement time's Kign Seiko homage, that has a mecha-quartz movement, but those are sold out until May, so I went with a Boderry. I'm going to be honest, I don't wear this watch very often, but it's a pretty watch with a quirk; it has a display caseback showing the gold plated Ronda Quartz in the back. The front of the watch isn't offensive in any way either, with indicies applied onto a embossed outer ring, and a sunburst inner circle sporting small seconds and a minute track dotting the outside.

As a side note, if you wanted a more rugged Quartz watch, the Addies Luminox copy is a decent option. It even has tritium tubes for $40!

The theme of my collection is "Far East excl. Japan". So expect an amazing value collection.

That is indeed a very good value collection and cool theme! Love it. Didn't know you could get an actual tourbillion so cheap, although it'll probably be a b#tch to service 😄

I should like a soviet-era pockwatch. Something either East German/Iron Curtain or straight up USSR.

Something that just screams "Cold War Bad Guys use this"

Any suggestions?

I'm conflicted as I love the aesthetic of a nice wrist watch, but personally I can't stand the feel of something around my wrist so I never wear one. I do however watch Ask Mr Wonderful on youtube, and I thought you might like this if you haven't seen it yet

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.

Nice, I don't have a Molnija in my collection. Though that's not really a surprise because they seem to only make pocket watches

Ahhh okay, I do like taking nice photos of my watches too. It's really too bad I dropped my camera a while ago, and I haven't gotten around to actually finding someone to fix it (I've asked a few camera repair places, and they refused).

I don't have any pocket watches in my collection, but I do have this wrist watch that has a pocket watch movement.
