Getting back into the game. Move aside stop gap $2 American Eagle thing. Just ordered the INVICTA 8926OB Pro Diver as my first mechanical watch. Let the collecting begin. Essentially 50 dollars off if you combine the current discount on Amazon with gift card I got from Secret Santa back in December.

I'm shopping for a new watch. More specifically Casio Rangeman GW-9400-1ER. The seller is the so-called "gray seller" The plus side of the seller is that I get a $ 100 discount. The downside is that there is no official importer service for  watch warranty matters. I have until Wednesday to decide whether or not to buy. That is, whether you buy the watch from which you get a discount or take the watch through an official importer. $ 100 discount vs full warranty ...... my brain is overloaded ....... Help!

It's a Casio, odds are it'll outlive you, never mind the warranty. I would just get it gray market.

I hope you got a discount on that. My dad just bought the same watch, and he got almost 20% off (just a bit above £1000 off MSRP)  just by asking from the local AD. And he's defo not a regular customer.

Is that good?

If you exchange that to GBP, that's a really good deal, but I don't know how much a springdrive snowflake goes for in the USA. As a side note, the MSRP for a GS Springdrive snowflake in the UK, when converted to USD, is $7500.

Ah okay, so the USA MSRP is a couple hundred pounds below a decent discount on a UK one (we asked a couple places, most offered 10-15%).

Man, we kind of get ripped off here in the UK (though that's true for basically everything, including tech stuff).

And you got a decent deal too, a hair more than 20%, I'm guessing you get the full warranty too.

It really is a beautiful watch, and what makes it even better imo, is that it doesn't show off at all. The watch knows it looks good, you obviously do too, and that's all that's needed.

I found a G-7900 clomage for very little money (like $15 or so), so I bought it.

Here it is next to the watch I've had longest in my collection.

The clone is actually a very close copy, aside from the fact it doesn't have tide and moonphase. I wouldn't be surprised if bezels and straps were interchangable.

Also, the buzzer on the fake is considerably louder than the real one.

The casebacks and wrist pads also look pretty similar.

I wouldn't be surprised if the casebacks were interchangable, it certainly looks that way at first glance.

Did they manage to get a set of old tooling from a casio factory or something? Or was the guy reverse engineering the G7900 just pretty good at his job.

its been 2.5 days since i set my gs snowflake and i still dont notice any discrepancies from an atomic clock online. my next most accurate watch which is ironically also my cheapest watch (seagull 1963) would be 5 seconds off by now

the spring drive accuracy is just insane. ive had it for like 5 days and its around +0.2 seconds fast now. of course im just eyeballing it compared to an atomic clock so I probably can't tell for sure until its +1 second but its for sure significantly less than 0.5 seconds fast. so its around +0.04 seconds to +0.1 seconds at worst / day

A movie watch collection is a very cool idea!

Can you name the movies though? 😛

I know a new version of the Hamilton is in Tenet but I have no idea about the other watches.

The martian.

The data bank is in so many movies.

But the first time I saw it was national treasure.

The timex expedition is the classic macgyver watch from the 80's

(I am in my teens and now that the new macgyver is bad and the old is a straight classic)

If you win you get to chose one of these 3 games i have sitting around in my Humble Bundle:

Dirt Rally 2.0

Frostpunk

Darksiders 3

Edit: If it's a tie i will rate which one I like more but the second will also get to chose between the remaining 2 games.

i go first but i won't participate (duh). I'm trying to go with pieces that i don't own so it won't be as repetitive.

If it didn't have the cathedral style hands I would be all over that 😄 thinking about buying one and changing them.

Also interesting that we have 3 times almost the same G-Shock in the collections 😄

Ah, the first small collection. Big fan of the hydroconquest. I think it's pretty good bang for the buck.

I can't stand the 'mercedes' hand sets on watches but I do like cathedral. The Alpinist is the closest I would come to the circular mercedes style.

That mudmaster is a lot of watch for the money.... Starting to wonder why I don't have one tbh...
