Luke accidentally said a white supremacist slogan on the WAN show yesterday.

    I didn't see anybody talking about it anywhere which is really unfortunate. There was a very overt white supremacist slogan accidentally mentioned in the most recent WAN show.

    He says at 4 minutes into the video the price of the cooler is 14 dollars and 88 cents. This is obviously a troll by somebody, not sure how he could have gotten this price. This is a direct reference to a very common white supremacist slogan that reads "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children." Here is the Wikipedia link that provides some useful information https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourteen_Words but basically it's a shortened version of that phrase, the 14 being the number of words in the referenced phrase, and the 88 meaning "Heil Hitler" as H is the 8th letter of the alphabet.

 

    The fact that this made it into a video where Linus and Luke are talking about free speech, being the arbiter of truth, etc. is very ironic and kind of funny but it means that there is something serious going on. Whoever trolled Luke into saying it was probably just that, trolling, but it still means that these ideas are being spread and propagated in some form, even if accidentally and very minimally. No doubt with the 220k views the livestream currently has there are at least a few people who are genuinely racist and hearing these kinds of things let's them know that there are other people out there like that. What do you guys think about the whole situation?

That's exactly my point. The price he referenced in JPY was about $140 USD but he says the price in USD is $14.88. That's not coincidence or accident. Somebody deliberately trolled Luke into saying that and he fell for it. I can't see how you can even defend this is purely an accident (obviously I'm not accusing Luke). The prices are so far off from each other.

Some have it above 1487, meaning at one time, for a period of time they had 1488, and they did this deliberatly by making the next post after 1487. Ouch... ill never look at them the same again

I find it really hard to care honestly. You could nitpick anything and twist words. Luke is clearly not a racist person, and saying racist things accidentally or misquoted doesn't make you racist.
