What does the F mean in an intel CPU
FeIIex replied to random_guy_with_questions's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
The F variants do not have integrated graphics -
Managing to land a job in my field, and finally building a new PC. Thankfully my province hasn't been hit hard as of yet, so other than wearing masks everywhere not much else has changed personally.

Trying to enforce stock settings on z490 Ultra
FeIIex replied to FeIIex's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
XMP worked this time, but if it crashes at all i'll lower it down to 4000mhz. Temps did drop down to acceptable levels as well -
Trying to enforce stock settings on z490 Ultra
FeIIex replied to FeIIex's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I had put that off due to the included instructions confusing the heck out of me (something about editing .nsh files and booting into DOS mode), turns out flashing it the old fashioned way worked just fine. The auto settings default to 1.360 now, but I did BSOD first boot into windows afterwards, where the PC then failed to post twice. (Probably due to XMP as disabling it removed the issue) Quick google search tells me this is the stock voltage, more or less. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction -
Specs: i9 10900k with Artic Freezer II 240mm AIO Gigabyte z490 Ultra 32GB 4x8 Patriot Viper running at 4266 cl19 with 1.35v EVGA 1080ti SC2 I put this rig together last monday, and have been having issues with stability and temps. I had intended to overclock in the future after doing research, but this motherboard factory overclocks my cpu causing it to hit 100C under full load. I just want it to run at stock settings for the time being, but there is no option to disable this overclock from within the bios. There is the option to manually change settings, but being

How much would you pay for a 1080ti in the current market?
FeIIex replied to TechNurd's topic in Graphics Cards
What CPU are you using? I had the 1080ti in my old rig for a weekend, and it didn't have much performance uplift over my 1070 due to the CPU it had. (i5 4670) -

FeIIex replied to TechNurd's topic in Graphics Cards
I bought an EVGA 1080ti SC2 two weeks ago for 400 CAD. It replaced my 1070, and it is a buffer card for me as well. (Until 3080ti sometime late 2021 into 2022) IMO if you're unsatisfied with your current experience, the 1080ti is still very capable in most games. -
Ah that explains why my CPU didn't show up today, it just HAD to ship from the US ;(

What's the worst condition you've seen a computer in?
FeIIex replied to Schnoz's topic in General Discussion
I work refurbishing donated PC's, other than some broken machines / bios locked ones, its not that bad. BUT: This was a laptop, I believe it was a dell D830. Screws on the display were covered in a green gunk, keyboard was covered in a solid, white substance (most likely paint, took a lot of scrubbing), entire inside of machine covered with cat or dog hair, from the CPU fan to the memory. Took over an hour to clean. -
At the time of purchase, yep. I got my unit from there

Alrighty I can live without the custom cables, thanks for the insight! Mid tier PSU's go for around 130 CADish for a 550w unit, I got my 860w for 180. Higher end units are usually not that much more, but due to the pandemic, everything has gone up unfortunately.

Went off the PSU tier list, it was the highest ranked that was in stock and not over 300 CAD
