F@H Web Client Dark Skin with PPD comparison by GPU / WU

Go to solution Solved by LAR_Systems,

HI everyone,  Quick update.

There was some server updates today to deal with server resource issues so sorry if you  were impacted by some strangeness like WU averages etc. being a little strange while this occurred.

In addition to the cleanup you will now find that for GPU projects the Atoms and Cause is reported on the slots.

Atoms and Cause coming to CPU slots soon.

image.png.96a2a24471ee3392c37e18b8310adc99.png

The PPD indicator has been updated so there is a +/- 10% tolerance for the red or green indicators coming on for when you GPU slot is operating within this "Average" range making it a more useful indication as to when PPD is out of the ordinary.

Project pages on the database site have been updated to show the Atoms, Core and project branch status of projects.

image.png.d3fcd4c830ec61537d13dc93b7450eae.png

And CPU based project pages (link found in the CPU slots in the web client) now contain the BETA charts for PPD-PLC (PPD per logical processor) as that system builds data and is under review.

image.thumb.png.03ed6ca321e14602de92ef37145c6c2c.png

These client based updates will trickle in to the wild over the next couple hours and take effect with a refresh of the page when they do.

Hi all, quick update for today!

For those that have not found it already, information on the site for GPUs now shows the average PPD and the separate Windows & Linux PPD averages with this more detailed information also being send to the web client so the WU Reward indicators are more fair based on the OS you're running.

The web client has also had the default Start / Stop functionality stripped in favor or direct buttons that just do what you expect them to without the popup window first.

For users running F@H 7.6.14 or higher this also adds a dedicated Finish button in addition to changing the start / stop to "Fold / Pause".

If you are below F@H 7.6.14 you will only see the fold and pause button as finish is not supported before this or was broke by F@H updates at some point.

These updates should trickle out to your clients over the next 24 hours or so.

Cheers,

At FAH, they are playing with the stats https://github.com/FoldingCommunity/fah-stats-front-end/ and making a new stats page: https://statsbeta.foldingathome.org/

And somehow it seems to break the Dark extension (total points and team), at least for non LTT members, albeit the standard Web Control is not affected.

brokenstats.jpg

okstats.jpg

A patch has already been pushed to account for their changes Monday morning.
When they did their initial update on the weekend they broke the stats / user API URLs for both clients.

We applied a hotfix to get around the issue fixing it in the dark mode extension, looks like they have restored the originals finally.

You need to update the extension to version 1.1.4. to see the update.   Cheers

Not sure if this is a problem or not but I'm getting a "not enough data samples" message for P13452. I myself have done 52 of them in the last few days but I don't know how many samples you need to have them in the database.

image.thumb.png.63a31ddd125581452f3707ac1dd94aed.png

I saw this, the issue is the project throws a 404 on their API, like they were handing out work units but did not add it to the project list, so I can't get the ID, to store the data correctly, once F@H ads it' to the DB for the API, my end will pick it up and associate all the back data.   It's why their project description window does not load as well.

EDIT: n/m, seems to be updating again!

Is the GPU database not updating?  I haven't seen stats updates since Tuesday morning.  I don't recall the update frequency but I thought it was at least once a day.

Me and some others are having a problem with F@H in the dark. It just stopped working. It lost the LTT skin and is just sitting with everything saying loading.

@LAR_Systems can you take alook at this problem please. thanks.

I'm hoping you will find it back online now.

Looks like something changed on server/browser communication, made a couple changes and loos like its running for me.

You might need to clear browser caches to see it go right away.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but have been unable to contact the developer of FAHintheDark. The info@folding.lar.systems email address couldn't be reached.

Original message:

I just ran across your gpu rankings and chrome extension. Cool!

The GPU rankings seem to be off...multiple listings for the same card type (gtx 1070 for example), and cards that are obviously lower being ranked higher,
I have a GTX 1070 and see nowhere near the ppd that you have listed. I get ~350k max. I also can never get any info on the little WU graphs in the chrome extension.

Hi,

There are multiple 1070s and other GPUs with duplicate records because they will be slight variations on the model as identified by F@H client (and shown under the card name) so the records are kept separate as the different revisions, mobile units etc. behave differently with different firmware/hardware.

image.thumb.png.bef2a4fdc8ee4f91b85130742b4ba421.png

In terms of the ranks, they are based on real-time data that is collected form users using the extension and are averaged across different work units and projects which have different PPD rewards that can and do change.

As for you card reporting low PPD.   The image in your post appears to be broken so can't see what card / issue you are showing... but if you are seeing dramatically lower PPD and you are new to folding you may not have an API key setup which will give you far less PPD than those values reported in the database as they only record PPD values for users with a F@H API key.

Otherwise I would need to see the issue / know what hardware and work unit you are on to review further.

Just as a follow up, some changes have been made to how the charts are implemented for when you toggle them on and off.   The F@H "slot id" id dynamically assigned and the client when you tried only supported up to the number 8... issue is F@H if you add and remove devices in the same session can increment the number to be larger than 8 and then you don't get chart even if there is only one device folding.

So little re-work on the code and now to account for this it can dynamically create charts up to 32 slot IDs for those that end up with the high IDs from trying stuff in the client or if you have a banging system with sooooo many GPUs 😉

Anyways try it now to see if the charts show,

Hi, first of all many thanks for your great work, i really love your database 🥰
But i have a question, is it possible to see who did the work unit PPD records?
Maybe i just broke the 10 million PPD on a RTX3090 on Linux 🤪
But there was no HFM running on that system, so i can not confirm it by myself...

Hi. Thank you for this skin! My team has been using the rankings for competitions to set handicaps. It works well, but we require at least 500 submissions to allow hardware into the fold for competition. I have not had any problems feeding your database some baseline data until this past week.

The problem card is an AMD FirePro W4100. I started folding on it in dark mode about a week ago. It is not showing a brand name in your database and also has a 404 error code page when you click on the card in your database. I did not have this problem when I fed a W2100 to your database last month.

Here is the problem link:

Hey there,

Glad you're getting some alternative uses out of the DB and client.

I hade a look at the W4100 and it's one of the cases where the AMD identifier for the card just is not set/picked up correctly for non gaming cards.

I have manually set the parameter which should solve the issue ongoing and the profile link once set is this https://folding.lar.systems/gpu_ppd/brands/amd/folding_profile/cape_verde_gl_firepro_w4100

Cheers

Thank you!!! I wasn't even sure if it was a problem on your end or if I needed to bother the folks on the f@h forum. But yes, over at ExtremeHW.net we are using your client extensively for our Extreme Folding League. You rock!!!

I would need to see a screen shot of the extension window to get the card WU and project information needed to see what's up.

It's possible that there is something going on, or that you're getting new project WUs that don't have enough data for the cards yet.

Thanks, I'll make a screenshot if I see a project which has data for the 1050 Ti listed on the database. My logs show that I've completed 17 WUs from project 17257 on the 1050 Ti in the second slot, all with the chrome extension running. I don't see that project listed in the database. Can you check if my samples even were uploaded?

Edit: "GeForce GTX 1050 Ti" is grey and not hyperlinked.

Edit2: My card identifies as "GP107 [GeForce GTX 1050 Ti]  2138" with two spaces between "]" and "2138", because that's how it's listed in GPUs.txt. Is that extra space creating problems? I could ask the FAH people to fix it?

@LAR_Systems I was told to use this thread instead. I can post or DM you logs if needed.
