Know how many of them were bad or very bad? (if you are fine with answering) or is it the 5th time vaxxed or 5th time with the rona? *drinks a corona*

Obviously Andreas can clarify, but I read that to mean that their mom caught COVID, and was also 5-times vaxxed (which I further assume to mean 2-dose original, plus 3 boosters).

What @dalekphalm said.

Dammit, jinxed myself. Sadly turned out to be positive a few days later, and I ended up beign extremely lethargic for the last three days. Couldn't even spend time on my phone, too tired and massive pain everywhere. Worst sickness I've ever experienced. Whoever came up with Tylenol needs more recognition.

Well for better or worse, I've decided I'm done with COVID shots after 4 of them. It just keeps changing too much and people I know with the bivalent booster, like me, are getting COVID and sick. So I don't really see the point anymore.

Everyone I know who has still gotten it has likened it more to a cold, so I guess if its mutated to the point then I don't see it as a big deal anymore.

Maybe I am wrong in thinking that way, but that's where I am at with it.

I know we had this discussion earlier in the thread, but I still go back to when the vaccines first came out, they absolutely pushed it as preventing COVID which never actually panned out. All from the same news media here where such segments are followed with a "sponsored by Pfizer" before the commercial break. I'm over it and I'll just leave it at that.

Not really wrong thinking I would say. It is great that it has reduced to the level of a cold for most people. Which in reality is about the best one could have hoped for once it became clear that eradicating it wasn't going to happen. When I got it it was nothing. I had a heavy cold for two days and after that I was fine again. I think the vaccine helped with that, but there is of course no way to fully prove that on an individual basis as it is impossible to do a control experiment.

I'm at a similar point. I've had 4 shots and had COVID at least once, so unless we get (or there is) evidence that more will help significantly I'm probably leaving them be for now as well.

My country prohibits advertising medicines, so luckily advertising wasn't an issue for me, but I can understand that seeing "sponsored by <manufacturer>" doesn't instill the biggest confidence nowadays. Communication has definitely failed regularly. Prevention was (and is) definitely the goal. It's just that aside from maybe the initial phases when little was known about the virus and the vaccine's (long-term) efficacy, and we might have had a sliver of hope that it could be eradicated, it was about preventing severe complications as much as possible, which it does well as the statistics have shown us, and also during the thick of it to at least try and hinder the spread, and thus mutations, as much as possible.

At the end of the day it is what it is. The vaccine definitely was not a failure, but it for sure wasn't a perfect show either. If you never ever got COVID after the vaccine that would've been one delicious cherry on top, but we still got a nice cake without it.

vaccines, not really. but for how some was pushed with some stupid regulations that in some places was worse than helping. while other countries did a lot better.

Vaccines dont 100% prevent you from getting sick. While prevention can happen, there is also a reduced chance of you getting really sick. The point is to keep you out of the hospital.

Honestly I had zero hopes of this happening. Too many people were anti vaccine or didnt believe that covid was real. Now its hear to stay. My guess is as it mutates, they will have to continually develop vaccines for it, kinda like they do with the Flu.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Unlike the flu shot, these vaccines put me out for a day at least. Like I plan to take the next day off of work kinda out. I've had my 4, we'll see what happens. I'm no longer interested in annual COVID shots when it just mutates a month after I get one.

Yeah I mean I was skeptical too. I am just pointing out what the politicians and the media presented at least here in the US when the vaccines first started rolling out. Like they pushed HARD the narrative that these were going to prevent you from even catching COVID. And since then as we are now a bit over 2 years post-vaccine rollout, that goal post has continually changed. At this point I know both vaccinated and unvaccinated people catching COVID who largely had the same exact reaction to it. Yeah that's anecdotal at this point, but I feel what we have now with COVID is a lot different then what it was in 2020. So that's why I feel like I had my 4 shots, I think I am done with those.

And as I see more "sponsored by Pfizer" spots on news segments, yeah maybe my tinfoil hat goes on more and more looking back at the last 3 years. Again, I'm just going to leave that one at that.

thats why you only get those you feel you need or if recommended, if from own medical issues etc. or if there is a bad one that a new vaccine helps against.

like not everyone get every flu shot, but at times it can be nice to take one. risk vs benefits, and so on. but then again, real life a lot could change or become a factor to why or why not for anything.

So are they ever going to lift mask mandates in QC hospitals? Been the case for months in Ontario, do they have a different 'rona?

Recently moved from having a single small office (only access through plexiglass when door open) to sharing a much larger one with co-workers, so back to more stringent standards. Five shots, one positive infection, what gives?

if they have good quality management of air, and its outside of "high risk areas" or "zones"? also when its going to be a bit ironic for the most strict areas with low cases and when ending the program, gets hit with the flood. as some was in the earlier covid days, years. amongus. nothing wrong in being careful and god knows what is in the air at some hospitals and in certain rooms, would think to do the most practical thing, if the restrictions are more of a hindrance than helping.

I'll keep getting my flu shots. I don't really care if they "recommend" continuing to get COVID shots. Of course they'll recommend it. I'll evaluate each year I suppose.
