We have 94 members... I think we should organize a takeover of the forum & instate parrot rule.

I think it'd be fun if the Parrot Gang & moderators waged a "civil war" of sorts where we didn't explain the rules of the game, but there would be weird instances of conflict like a hidden war.

We could have a secret thread or something where we keep track of incidents & stuff like "This thread lock was part of the game" and stuff so admins don't get in trouble for playing the game. So fourth.

 

Or we could just strike without them knowing... haha

Ah. This part might not be a good idea? There are super chill Mods like Mr. Nice N' Handsome Bearded Man That Gimme A Cookie Once and also not-so chill Mods. Not-so chill Mods probably wouldn't take the fake civil war too kindly.

 

Also, methinks randomly raising a ruckus against the Mods (outside of the Meme Threads™) and the "act like it's all terrible" part would send the wrong kinda message to members new to the forums? The CS has a rule against backseat moderating -- I'm also interpreting this clause as "If you have a problem with a Mod's actions, please discuss it privately with them via PM." Childish trolli-oli-olls would use us as an example to publicly heckle the Mod Team, or an excuse to disband the party for violating the CS. That would be kinda sad.

Hey guys,

Officially, it's okay to greet new members in any way deemed courteous and friendly as per the community standards,such as inviting them to join an unofficial parrot gang to help integrate them into the community. That is totally fine and honestly a good way to help build the site's members as a whole. However, "fake beef" can cause unintended consequences like not being able to draw a clear line between whats jokingly back and forth banter and whats real targeted aggression, and can make moderation difficult for the Moderators to do our job (we like to be regular members too, not just "people who have to decide how much action to take on issues")

Yeah. It couldn’t be comments on all that. 

 

But if we wanted to play a game like this, I’m thinking of some new ways it could be done to be more subtle & less “me vs you.”

 

we could setup like “patrols.”

IE 

a member can “stand guard” for 4 hours in a subforum.

 

a member not on patrol can “attack” 1 position every week. 

You would have to PM that user that bird video or something. If that user doesn’t reply in a set time, then that user is “out of action” for a week. If he does reply, the attacker is out of action. 

 

If an entire shift is unguarded for a set time, it was “taken” by the other group. 

 

Then the forum’s subtext would have an extra character like “P” for parrot gang or “M” for moderator.

or we could have it listed in a thread of who owns what subforum. 

 

Not that anyone would actually take it over but as a light hearted game. 

 

a lot more relaxed & out of the way. 

 

Idk... i thought it’d be funny to have a gang doing gang things on the forum. Especially one that’s just a bunch of birds cawing at moderators saying “okay this is our thread now... stupid bird” hahaha. 

 

If people aren’t up for it then it’s alright. I think this version is more simple. Just PMs. Be near your computer in your guard shift or you’ll be out of action. Attack when you think the guards won’t be manning their stations. 

Biggest change would be a strange stray character next to the subtitle of a subforum. 

 

 

Obv needs mod approval and mods as well as users that would like to play. 

... or we can just send videos of birds shooting to moderators without permission! Haha! Got you now!
