Wait, I have never heard of that before. Since the platform seems to be exclusively used on those EVGA PSUs, is it that ONLY this platform is problematic or are there other Andyson-made platform that has issues with Ampere (that you are aware of)?

I don't know why it happens.  Could it be platform specific?  Don't know.  But there's lots of reports here, Tom's, Reddit and even a call for EVGA to recall the PSU series:  https://forums.evga.com/EVGA-Supernova-850-GA-power-supply-recall-m3152699.aspx

I know that VPX50P are Delta, we're talking about VPX00PC which is CWT, smth old like GPK which doesn't perform very good either. Looks like Delta one performs okay (because it's DC-DC double mag amp), but as far as methodology is concerned it wouldn't be higher than tier D either because of the lack of UVP (or at least the apparent lack, i can't find specifications for the supervisor IC used tho).

Do you have a source for more info about the VPX50P PSUs? I've combed through all the sources listed (spreadsheets, etc.).  I can't find nearly enough info to make an accurate assessment on these units - specifically, about the VP650 Plus.  Reviews on amazon / newegg seem mostly positive but I know to take those with a grain of salt- a few mention that these are group regulated which contradicts what you're saying here.  I've reached out to Antec directly but I have no idea when or if I'll get a response.

VP*50P and VP Plus are different.

Here's a review for VP700 Plus, Andyson, group regulated :

https://www.nikktech.com/main/articles/pc-hardware/power-supplies/9549-antec-vp700p-plus-700w-power-supply-unit-review?start=4

VP650 Plus looks to be the same looking by the shots of the exhaust grille.

Here's a review for VP*50P, Delta DMA platform :

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/antec-vp550p/4.html

It's old and i can't find any of them on Antec site except for 450W version which seems to be different.

"Corsair RM1000X 1000W" enough for a 3090? Seeing its named "RM Gray", not sure if its supposed to be greyed out or the blue color indicates decent load without too much noise? Seeing more 3090's being avaible in norway, tempted to get a better psu before i jump on a loan 😛

Edit: HX1000 looks like a good choice too, but its 90$ more expensive than the RM1000X is at 250$ 😕

Corsair RM-x and RM 'Gray' are different lineups. There are three versions of RM-x by now and two RM, one of them has black/gray/white colored label (in comparison with the old orange one) hence the 'gray'.

It is, if it were supposed to be grayed out it would've been grayed out.

Even 850W version should be enough per se but it wouldn't hurt to have some headroom if you can spare some money for the 1kW version.

Definitely not worth it then.

@LukeSavenije @Juular @jonnyGURU Seems like a review for the Silverstone VIVA 550 is now available (in Vietnamese):

https://www.f14lab.org/2021/04/review-silverstone-viva-550-550w.html

Looks like a Tier C unit for me? (double forward + DC-DC) 🤔

Google translated:

Quote

Viva 550 uses Dual Forward + VRM (DC to DC) circuit design which is a pretty good design for the mid-range segment, This design makes the voltage lines more stable in all actual load situations compared to the design old style (group regulated)

It appears to be a really good cheap platform (manufactured by Casecom. The same used by Kolink Classic Power) but the components, on the other hand, don't seem very reliable.

You're fine.  The problem with Seasonic PSUs has to do with the Ampere cards.

well, also the 970 strix and Vega 56/64. unsure if Radeon 7 is also in there.

tho they may just have affected the older Focus FX PSUs, but Focus FX also trips on ampere. its seemingly one of the most sensetive units

So this is my second Gigabyte G750H that has it's fan rattling after a year.

I could get a Corsair CX750F RGB 750W white/black for 92€ or a Corsair TX750M for 101€. The latter is a "best pick" in Tier B while the CX F is in Tier A. Which one is the better pick? After all this fan rattle, I think I would prefer less noise over efficiency.

System is a Ryzen 3600 with a Vega 56 and multiple drives.

Cheers

Cheers

TX-M is a better choice.

If you want a quiet Corsair PSU, buy a PSU of RM or higher. Also, post a new thread with a link to the store you'll be using and you'll get more help.

Thanks for the reply. It wasn't a store per se, just the price comparison website idealo.de with a number of parameters.

link here if you are wondering

I don't really care about the company as long as the product itself is good. I'm gonna throw my inquiry in a new thread and see what comes up.

Teapo SC is unfortunate, but it still seems to be pretty good build quality.

I think it's a pretty attractive unit if it's sold at a low price.

Your link is broken.

It seems that they downgraded the capacitors, maybe not their fault because capacitors are in shortage. I am not too familiar with Teapo SC, are they that bad?

They are similar to the Chemi-Con KZE (1000h - 3000h @ 105°C), but are manufactured by Kaimei. They are always shown as inferior quality capacitors on forums like BadCaps or by reviewers like Aris.

Hi,

I am looking to buy PSU for max 70$. I am looking between Cooler Master MWE Bronze 500W V2 http://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/power-supplies/mwe-series/mwe-500-bronze-v2/) and Zalman GigaMax ZM550-GVII (550W) [ZALMAN]. I have RX580 8GB and I think that 500W will be enough, but I don't know about general quality of those two PSUs but judging by the tier list, Cooler Master is tier B while Zalman is tier C so they are probably good. I am also curios about this "high ripple issues on very low load". Is this big deal or not? I have read on this topic that this issue has been fixed but I am still little skeptical.

Thank you for your answers in advance.

You're looking at the wrong PSU, yours is in tier D.

I meant Cooler Master MWE Bronze 500W V2 http://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/power-supplies/mwe-series/mwe-500-bronze-v2/) and Zalman GigaMax ZM550-GVII (550W) [ZALMAN]. Cooler Master is in Tier B if I am correct although he is at section "(low priority units - minor issues or lack of info)" and Zalman is in Tier C
