Corsair Buys Origin PC

Lurick

Summary:

It looks like Origin PC is going to become a part of Corsair now and although they are buying Origin, Corsair will continue to make and sell their existing lineup of prebuilt PCs. Everything from Origin will still remain under that brand but will just have a new parent company and they will continue to operate out of their current offices.

Origin PC will remain as a separate brand within Corsair, and will continue to operate from its Miami offices. All existing Origin PC warranties, purchases and support are unaffected and will continue to be provided by Origin PC’s world-class customer support team.

Corsair will continue to offer its own branded range of systems, including the Vengeance PC, Corsair One, and Corsair One Pro.

Thoughts:

I think this could be a good move for Corsair, they already offer some really nice products and being able to further integrate themselves into the SI space and offer a wider range of products and services should hopefully be a good thing. I wish the best for Corsair moving forward and hope they continue to deliver excellent products and quality. This should also allow for more offerings and maybe even slightly cheaper prices on Origin PC systems as well but only time will tell for certain on that.

So, they bought it from EA?  /s

Part of this is they wanna push icue more, and so I think I read in another article every Origin PC will come with it pre-installed.

Corsair is looking for further, localized revenue streams. Seems like a good pick up for Corsair.

Ya, they also bought elgato last year.  "By acquiring Origin PC, Corsair has allowed themselves to offer PC gamers a wider variety of custom PCs. The move has also enabled the company to align itself with the Origin PC to improve its future products alongside its iCUE software ecosystem."  So, apparently they wanna do/push iCUE more too.

Integrated streaming platforms, maybe? Or get some of that sweet, sweet data tracking money?

Just a little while longer and Corsair can get an entire setup for a streamer.

They already have peripherals, now PC's, as far as I remember they also own Elgato now (capture cards and some streaming peripherals like greenscreens and their well-known streamdeck too)..

Let's hope places like Origin will keep existing, which will likely be the case under a large company such as Corsair.

Or, make an app platform thing like ASRock and others have for better driver/sw integration would be my guess.

Having your own platform always has its own advantages. Not the least of which is to sell people more stuff.

The ideal side effect is that iCUE has better compatibility with non corsair RGB hardware.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

As long as they don't bring back the Love Bat'leth Tramp Stamp Logo I'm good.

Well if they werent already using corsair products just due to popularity expect every build a year from now to have corsair parts for all the parts corsair makes.
