I used my Pi 2 as a retro games emulator with RetroPie, but I'd like to get my hands on a Pi Zero W and a Retroflag GPi for portable emulation. That 4GB Pi 4 is also looking really tempting.

 

A FreePlay CM3 would be amazing (since it uses the RPi 3 Compute Module in its' DDR2 SODIMM form factor) but the kit is nearly $200 and I'd rather buy a Nintendo Switch at that point.

I've got an Orange Pi running Octoprint for my 3D-printer. I do also have a few Raspberry Pis -- both the regular ones and some zeroes -- but I can't think of any use for them.

used it for retro pie, but i think it is going to be repurposed for use as a print server, for my 3d printers... it should be able to create a WIFI link or remote desktop, so i can start prints, away from my machines, or monitor.

I have one lying around and plan to use it with HomeKit, but atm it’s just sitting there, watching movies and tv with Kodi.

At my parents house they use a Pi 3 for smart home applications. It's running Domoticz and controls lights, music and measures gas and electricity usage.

Quite nice to have.

 

I have previously tried to use a Zero with RetroPie, but it wasn't powerful enough to play games above SNES :/

well i got a bunch of them.

one pi zero controls the adressable leds strip around my desk

another zero functions as security camera at my front door

another zero controls my window blinds or whatever they are called with some steppers

one pi 3b+ sits behind my bathroom mirror and runs the smart mirror

and another b+ is under development right now to at some point give me android auto in my car

also i might get the pi 4 for its easier dual screen support and do dual transparent sidepanel displays at some point. maybe once they are out on the used market cause im not paying 55 bucks for a pi :D

oh yeah and i have another pi zero lying around with no specific use yet but im sure ill find something maybe a weather station or some lighting control for the balcony

I have a pi 0 running pi-hole DNS, another pi-0 sitting in a box, cuz they were $5 each at the time, and  Pi3 Cana kit for a udemy course because while I can follow a recipe to make a pi do somthing, I don't know what I'm doing, and that makes me sad.

I have two currently.  One runs pihole the other runs openvpn.

 

I'd like to get a third that acts as a dedicated monitor for my security system, maybe a pi 4 would fit the bill.

one B+ that is currently my kids computer, the other is a version A i think (got it off a friend) and it is running a web browser that displays a custom web page, it links to all my families Habitica accounts, that way it displays all our dailies and to-dos and then automatically updates when things get checked off.

Setting up a 3b with a webserver to wake my desktop on lan. This way I can rdp in without my desktop being on all the time. (mainly for steamsales xD) Just need to secure the websever and it should be ready for deployment.

 

Also planning to use it to learn python. Want to rdp to it so I can code on it from work.

hey, your not the only one i'm also a 2009 white macbook gamer with the integrated graphics and fornite always crashing and just waiting for a good upgrade later in the future and i use my raspberry pi 3b+ as a gaming console because i only have cheap stuff and because i can't afford a ps4 or an xbox not even a used one i do everything DIY

2 (3b+) are deployed as unifi controllers in networks that I manage using BalenaCloud to push updates and do remote management on them

1 (3b+) is running my Octoprint server with an Ender 3 Pro connected

1 (4b) is running a 2 TV monitoring system for tracking vehicles using syncUP Fleet (My full time job is at a construction company) tracking roughly 120 different vehicles. 

4 (3b+) are running pi-hole at various locations (again using BalenaCloud) for people who want ads blocked. 

3 (4b) running motionEyeOS for security cameras. (These were on a handful of 3b+, but I was getting a max of 8fps in recordings so I wanted to upgrade these.)

1 (1b ?) is gonna be a an Octo print server

i own 3 1B originals. Bought one when they came out, as so did my brother, he stopped using his so i got it. and around the same time i got one from my internship
the Zero i bought as an impulse buy, the 3b was bought to play around with for the custom software

Thinking of buying a 4b (4gb) to replace what the 3b does, and run pihole on the 3b
Or run pihole on a VM on my nas ?

The raspberry pi 3 b was my very first computer since it's so cheap. I basically used it for web browsing, and that's about it. It worked fine for that and I still have it next to my big desktop.

I don't recommend using a 1b for an octoprint server. Gcode interp. and webstreaming is harder then you would think and the 3b is the recommended minimum atm.
