How could I save/earn money as a teen for a pc

Basically, want a new PC for around 1.5k, any ideas on how to save?...

Sure, there are a few things you can do:

• Do odd jobs around the neighborhood
• Save your allowance if you have any
• Make a deal with your parents
• Sell things you don't need (though you'd have to/should go through your parents)

First get a job as a steady income source. Then create a budget for yourself for necessities and free-spending money. Try keeping that around 30-50% of your take home income (assuming you still live with your parents, that shouldn't be too hard). For the rest of the leftover money, I'd recommend putting it aside in a savings account to accrue some interest. If you're good at investing, you can also set aside a small portion of your income (I recommend no more than 20%) to invest in stocks, crypto, etc.

Firstly, we should know your exact age. There's a big difference between a 13 year old and a 19 year old.

m.yurizaki stated some easything but if you want to make alot of money you have to work so maybe learn graphics design or front-end web dev it would take a couple months to be good at but then you can get more than 1500

Go apply at Walmart; I think their minimum wage is $11 an hour. With no real responsibilities and no expenses at that age you'll be able to get a really killer PC pretty quickly.

i believe you are setting your target too high, you could build a relatively good pc for much lower say $800.

do some research on perf / price, by that time new product should be released

Why $1500? Start with WHAT you want, components-wise, and buy a part at a time, as they have rebates or go on sale.

Lower your standards. You don't need to get your dream rig now. Start with something you can use for things that are important. Most likely you don't need to have ultra graphics on 4k monitor. Look for used parts when you don't need new. Coolers, case, PSU.

 

My first own build was €800, including OS. I had monitor, mouse, kb, headset etc. already. Only thing I regret about it was mobo which was shitty to OC on.

 

As for money, look for part-time jobs. Ask your parents, ask money as gift and tell you are saving for something bigger.

Work at the summer camp. 

Work at the daycare. 

Sell stuff on eBay you don’t use that belong to you. 

Don’t buy things you don’t need. 

Ask for money for birthdays and events. 

Use your existing computer and upgrade it by sliding in a decent GPU for a low cost like a GT 1030 for under $100 US.

On the other hand, you could get/build a good gaming PC below 1.5k.

We need to know a rough age and rough area - is it legal to get a real job where you live? 
 

As a teen, my dad had a bunch of friends and friends of friends that were dysfunction alcoholics that didn't want to cut their grass. I charged a hell of a lot to the people that let their yard get to long I had to use a weed eater first, and I did a some people multiple times a month depending if they lived in a good neighborhood and bad grass would stand out. A good half were at the "cut the grass or face fines" point. That's how I bought my second dual core PC back in the day, back when pre built were actually ok I did that and swapped psu and added a gpu. Was probably 15-16 idk.  

It's winter, walk around with a shovel and a smile. Hell I let some kid rake my leaves a few weeks ago because why not. 

Around the same time and for several years after, I fixed laptops for money.

$1.5k isn't exactly an unreasonable amount to save up as a teen if you are willing to work (at least in the US) but it might not be a bad idea to trim your budget a bit.

 

That said, it is hard to make a recommendation without an age. Can you drive? Is there anything stopping you from just getting a normal job at Wal-Mart or something?

My boyfriend is a forex broker and says he works on himself. Of course I do not recommend it to you right now, but as a future perspective why not;) I do not all the details but he is pretty satisfied with his job and money paid. 1.5k what? Pound? Euro? Goats? Dollars? If so, what country?

Do you live in a small town, or a city?
Do you have a little money you can invest into a venture or two, or are you starting from scratch?
How old are you, and how motivated are you?

 

Personally, I'd suggest going used. Your money will go much, much farther. With some leg work, you can get a killer system for next to nothing.

I got my entire set up for $350.

There's so much you didn't tell us.

Interest you'll make in savings is no where near the money you'd make investing it into something else. It's also abysmally low.

Stocks are a gamble.

At his (likely) age, such recommendations don't make much sense.

$1,500 might not get him much, especially if he's in Canada, and if he needs all the peripherals, monitor, etc.

It does, but Walmart bumped their minimum to $10 an hour last year or the year before and I think raised it to $11 after Trump's tax bill took effect.

Wow the guy asks for ideas and people are like "buy something cheaper"? $1500 doesnt buy much of a PC these days. Not if he needs peripherals.

I like the car washing idea but whats even better than just washing cars is learning how to detail them properly. You can charge $50 per car if you're good and hit up the right people with nice cars. Most places around here charge significantly more for an exterior only detail.

 

Only issue is doing it right takes a lot of care and doing it wrong could leave someone pissed off that they have swirl marks.
