Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

so in my boredom from quarantine i actually cleaned up the cabinet where i keep al my tech stuff, and i found the one card that started my F@H hobby way back in 2015! i didn;t even know i still had this, i thought i sold it ages ago :o

It's a MSI GTX 750Ti. what a beauty this card was.

IMG_20200416_121935.thumb.jpg.37883cc4824d8da417f21fce420b3640.jpg

she's once again happily folding away in my server next to the 2080Ti. hopefully she'll get some WU's soon.

Could be a WU that really really likes 750 Ti...

But I'd leave it for few hours and see what estimate is then.

EDIT:

Or their estimate PPD is currently broken - most likely situation.

Bad news everyone! I have to shutdown at least one of my rigs because the electric bill came back with a $30 increase on it over last month and money is tight right now.  Not shutting down everything...yet.  Knowing shedloads of people are working on this helps with the reduced output on my end.

F@H will estimate the PPD of a second card added to a system based off the first PPD. Happend to me as well when I initially added a 750ti, but it was a 970 that produced 350kppd, so initially it was an additional 350kPPD. It will correct itself in a few hours.

Suggestion, with the current lack of WUs getting assigned I've gone back to my summer configuration. Not to save energy but to produce less heat to test it out in advance of the A/C season, not that were there yet, it snowed here yesterday, just to test.

What I've found is that setting the GPUs to use 80% of the rated Power reduces the heat load quite a bit but results in less than a 20% reduction in PPD.

So rather than shutting stuff down you could try running all your GPUs at reduced power.

I found out same thing here. But I've gone even further and pushed it to 55-65% on some cards. My 1070 is currently sitting at 60% and +90CC +200MC and doing around 800k (stable).

While 2080 S is sitting at 65% +35CC +100MC and doing 1.8-2.1M (depending on WU).

Umm ... Houston, we have a problem. I can't find my #@*^%%) thermal paste. Got the 3900x up and running but am going to have to do a shuffle to get at the system the 9900K goes in and luckily I went to get everything ready first. So I have a NH-D15 and the 9900K just sitting there until the store opens tomorrow.

Sigh.

Good thing I paused as I realized there was absolutely no way that the NH-D15 was going to fit in the Fractal S as their are 2 120mm AIO rads & fans in the top for the 2 RTX 2070 Super Hybrids.

So I picked up a Hyper 212 EVO Black as well as some thermal paste. Installed it with a NF-A12iPPC3000 😈

I'll probably replace it with a NH-U12A but we'll see how it goes

I think it might need a bit of a manual overclock:

root@fold9:~# cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep MHz
cpu MHz         : 3929.964
cpu MHz         : 3970.916
cpu MHz         : 3928.203

cpu MHz         : 3904.460

and the Sensors show:

VRM MOS:       +62.0°C  (low  =  +0.0°C, high = -122.0°C)  sensor = thermistor

So there's lots of thermal headroom left even with a somewhat anemic cooler.

One weirdness though with the new CPU it boot loops with the XMP enabled on the G-Skill DDR-2400 2 x 4GB kit. So it's running at 2133 for now but not a major loss.

Hi all, I just joined the LTT less than a week ago. Currently over 2.5 million points and closing in on 100 WU. Had a little downtime due to upgrading cpu cooler and such. Should be getting my intel I9-9900k tomorrow to compliment my gtx 1080ti. Then I'll be running 24/7. I wish I knew about F@H sooner. My pc has been sitting for months with no use and have since awoken it due to being out of work. Want to build another system as I have a 1070 and a spare 750 watt psu lying around. I also seem to be receiving more WU's today. I hope they keep em coming. Thanks all

If you ever wondered what you could do with a Hyper 212 EVO Black on a 9900K when you replace the fan with a NF-A12iPPC3000 ...

4.6GHz @1.31V with an AVX offset of 3 (4.3GHz) and it is so far passing mprime (Prime95 for linux) with AVX enabled. Gets up to 81C, 2870rpm with small FFTs (4k) and on 192k FFTs sits around 60C, 2100rpm.

I had 4.7 stable at 1.35V but that's a little too much voltage for my liking.

Hey Guys, Just started Folding Yesterday to try and do my bit as its an amazing idea.

Just wondering what the average folding numbers are and what they actually mean. This is mine so far.

welcome! have you entered your passkey yet? my 2080Ti gets me about 2 million to 3.5 million points per day.

also, you will have to submit 10 WU's before you are eligable for the QRB, which also gets you lots of points.
