For whatever reason, I had a sudden urge to revisit PC games I used to love playing as a kid. Which games do you remember playing as a kid? The top ones that come up for me are:

The Mechwarrior Series, Mechcommander Series, Age of Empires, MSTS, All old Blizzard titles, Arma 1&2, COD 1 and 2, Battlefield 1942 BF 2 BF Vietnam, X wing/Tie Fighter, Simcity 2000, Simcity 2, Fable, Empires - Dawn of the Modern World, Hunting Unlimited 2, Medal of honor 1 and 2 (3 is shite), Tycoon Series, Heroes of Might and Magic, Civ 1 -2 - and 3, Star Wolves, Star wars Empire at war, syberia, The Lost Vikings, Blitzkrieg 1&2!!!!, OG Sniper Elite, XCom, Back when it was good before the 2.0 update that screwed it and before i had a pc that could handle WOT I spent endless hours on Tanki Online  That was a fun fun game before the wrecked it, System Shock 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Silent Hunter, Empire Earth, earth 2140 trilogy was amazing, FREESPACE and FREESPACE2!!!!!, Hostile Waters Antaeus Rising!, Wing Commander Series

Edit: wait that can't be right! That was in 2000! It must have been something before that. I can't remember though. But My dad was quite late into the whole PC thing... The first OS he got for us was windows 98.

Mario Kart 64, Perfect Dark, Golden Eye 007, pkm stadium 1/2, pkm snap, Starcraft on the N64

Harvest Moon: Back To Nature, Ape Escape 1, Crash Bandicoot 1, Metal Gear Solid 1, FF7 on the PS1.

 

 

On PC it was stuff like Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and Starcraft/Starcraft Broodwar, which was so much better than the N64 version.

 

I skipped many other titles too, seriously, there's too many to name.

I had an atari 2600 but wasn't terribly fun honestly. I remember being more of a fan of my regular toys and such. NES however that's another story there where great games I played quite a bit like Mario Bros. 3, Blaster Master, Adventures of Lolo, Metroid. Even my dad loved his fair share of games specially Ninja Gaiden II which he managed to beat (no easy feat) 

 

Snes was when I actually played the most because I was able to get really long games now with FF IV, VI, Link to the past and Chrono Trigger. I never got another console until much later but playing even more RPG games I never got the chance to like FF V was what drove me to become a heavy PC user and at the same time I started to play late 90s PC games back then.

the memory that sticks out in my mind the most is the Clock Tower level from Super Mario 64. I used to play that game sooo much to a specific playlist of song. when ever i hear Barenaked Ladies - One Week comes on that's where my mind immediately goes
