From what I remember, Star Fox 2 was basically finished but something prevented it from getting to the market. 

Looks like quite a better purchase compared to the NES Mini.

If I recall correctly, the developers said that the game was "basically 95% complete". I guess it means it was missing main menu, a few things here and there, and testing and polishing. In other words, I doubt there will be much difference between it and the leaked ROM in terms of gameplay experience.

Star Fox 2 was 100% complete according to the lead programmer.  The game was killed for marketing reasons.  In short, it was VERY late in the SNES life cycle and PlayStation was already on sale.  Nintendo didn't want Sony to be putting their 'Newly released 3D game!' on display next to a PlayStation running something that would look vastly superior.

I still have my Super Nintendo on the attic. With Donkey Kong Country (sooo goood), Super Mario World (sooo good), The original first Mario Kart (soooo good) and Starwing (sooo good). Too bad they didn't include all the Donkey Kong Country games.

I kinda want this, simply because the HDMI makes it easier to use than my old original console.

 

Also what is up with the Special Aid american version? Why is it so ugly and without colours on the controllers? Is this a "where american, so we have to be different and use the idiotic empirical system" kinda special?

As mentioned. In NA, the look of the European/Asia model was seen as a "kids system". Sega being a very strong competitor in NA and aiming at the mature audience, they went with a color-less look to compete and a larger design. Remember that at the time, the mentality was: bigger is better. Thin and sleek designed was seen as a toy and weak system. Whereas in Japan, consumers prefer cute small compact design. This is also why the NES was a gray big box box in NA, while in Japan, the Famicom was slimmer and cute.

 

I actually forgot to mention, and just recalled something about that Nintendo planned to have an add-on for the system under it, and they wanted to have look good when stacked, but not sure on that.

It is probably because you are used to the rounded look. Different taste different market. We see this in cars as well, still today. European cars (I mean keeping the same design, ignoring driving sides) won't sale well in NA.

From the picture above, we also see how the controller will connect to the system. Looks like they'll continue to use the Wii connector... shame.. would have been cool if they used a miniature version of the plug.. I guess cost is at play.

Well yeah, but look at the car industry in the 90's. They also had the rounded looks to them, including american cars. All the boxy squared off stuff, looks a lot like 80's cars.

I WANT IT! I have that on original SNES as well. Really fun game. That blacked out Nintendo team at the end you had to beat. Argh! Hated them. Honestly, why don't Nintendo just put ALL o their SNES IP into this thing? It would only cost them some more memory.

The SNES Mini's game selection looks better than the NES Mini's. I think I'll try to get an SNES Mini - I just hope there will be more available than there were for the NES Mini.

 

If only Nintendo would just reissue the full SNES.

 

 

P.S. I like the North America SNES style a lot more then the EU / Asia SNES style.

I don't think so. Nintendo said it will have HDMI output (HDMI cable included in the box apparently), so it will be like the NES Classic (I think it will be identical hardware).

 

Nintendo said that they will make much more then before, no numbers given, but they only said for year 2017. We have no info if it will be produced after Jan 1st 2018.
