Quite decent if you ask me.

I think people genuinely want AMD to fail.  What I don't understand is everyone should be hoping that AMD has a hit product.  Competition increases innovation and also reduces prices.  If you really think it costs Intel anywhere close to $1k for a 8c/16th you are seriously on crack.

That's just the Nvidia and Intel fanboys that haven't been exposed to AMD and so find it repulsive. Any sane person would see Ryzen only has benefits. It's honestly sad to see people b*tching about Ryzen when it's literally giving us performance previously 2-3x more expensive.

So apparently there's an in-Windows OC-ing tool coming directly from AMD: Ryzen Master. Like Wattman but for CPUs. Apparently also does memory OC-ing. Also allows you to flat out disable cores for higher per-core clocks and has user profiles. So if you have a game that likes high-clocked single threads than you can do so, but if you go and play/do something that likes every core/thread available you can do that to very easily (and what seems like without the need for a system reboot).

Don't forget the higher cost CPUs are binned better. And also: bragging rights. People are willing to spend $170+ more on essentially the same thing just because they can say that they have an X-series Ryzen chip.

So it's a huge step up for AMD but I wouldn't say it's beating Intel. All the benchmarks shown are running the intel counterpart at it's base clocks. A 6800K can run faster than 3.2ghz on ANY cooler. It is still really cool to see an octal core CPU for $329. I mean I will probably be replacing my FX6300 with an 1800X.

Pretty much this: You guys really think AMD is not going to just send their best of the best bins to reviewers as samples? Not even waiting for your typical "youtuber" reviewer would do (No offense Linus/Luke) but you should ideally wait for common user benchmarks to populate first.

NDA lifts March 2nd on launch day. It's pretty standard these days. AMD has an event on February 28th but I think it's more Vega related than anything else (as far as actual news goes). It's not like the NDA lifts a week after launch day. The reviews are available before you purchase.

Yeah I normally think so but I want bragging rights to say this was my 2nd pre order ever. Ive been following zen for years so I want to show my support and help in the kicking of Intels greedy teeth by doing so early. Sure the reviewers might get different results but very small. AMD got to show them the scores today and then send them home with the chips. I doubt they would attempt lying in front of them when a short time later they can prove it themselves. Can't wait to replace my 8320 as my main rig. 

 

Edit: Canceled my order. Decided to not get it. Not because what I said. Just not at all worth getting it at least right now. It be a while till I could build a full system anyway.

As for motherboards Ive seen plenty of boards with modern feature sets. Some with USB 3.0, 3.1, and type c all on one board. 

Any system builder worth his salt (most of us here on ltt forums) wait for the parts we want. For other we recommend based on what they need. if Ryzen is the price/perf king then it will be recommended right out of the gate.

95w tdp is base clock and everyone including you knows that. No one buying the X series cpus are going to care because we expect it to be higher than that. Same story with intel. Any AMD didnt raise any bar, since as Im sure you know anyone who overclocks expects to pay more for cooling. Your arguments again do not make sense as what you described is what is currently true in the market place and for intel.

A decent cooler to do any meaningful OC on intel cost 75+. And if you mention those low end cheap plastic evo coolers then please don't even bother responding to this point.

 

You have no evidence to claim ryzen isnt that great. Any point you mentioned is either already true of intel or is simply a fallacy. But, again, I am quite sure you are aware of all of this, so its interesting to me how you make these arguments to begin with.

Also Amd has the only 8 core 65 watt Tdp on the market.

I am very glad I went with my i7 7700k for my build. I am also glad to see that AMD is bringing some very well priced options into the market. 8Core/16Thread  That is pretty cool. Still an Intel guy, but glad to see some competition
