AMD's Vega architecture previewed at ve.ga

AMD's efficiency is not out of control... It's just that NVidia is better.... At least until Vega.

I think it hurts them more in the laptop GPU market where even a small TDP advantage matters due to limited power/cooling.

Yes they do. That is the nature of GCN. You know how the 480 is a billion times faster in Doom and in new APIs? That doesn't come for free. GCN is not meant for DX 11. Volta will be the same. I don't know why we have to keep beating this dead horse.

yes AMD, hype the shit out of it and on stage show some bullcrap results like you use to

then, have all the fanboys cry foul when independent benchmarking show the real results

No no that's not true. Nowadays their go to excuse is "Oh but it's better on DX12!....it isn't? Oh well it will be when drivers come...no I don't think waiting 6 fucking months is an issue you hater!"

Sweeeet I can't wait! I mean I won't be buying it because I already have a very efficient GPU that's right for me, but this is still sweet.

Everybody else is, though. If you repeat a lie enough it becomes the "truth". Every fucking website and youtube tech channel had a strapline something along the lines of "5 GHz RYZEN!!111!!!11!!" within two days of that article going online. Anandtech didn't, but they're one site in a sea of many.

no it does not

reputable tech sites do not spread this shit around; the others do it just to get views and hits

And there are many more disreputable sites around, so their noise is louder. You are assuming that people are rational. They are not.

I wonder how much they're stretching these figures and what they're comparing them to. I'm assuming 390x which would still be quite impressive.

I feel like this might be the paper release, or it could be what you said.

I sorta hope this more of a paper release even though I'm planning on getting a 480 and an Skylake CPU.

i really hope that its pretty good. im in the market for a new gpu and a monitor and im literally just waiting for amd to release some good stuff since freesync > gsync. the only reason (after how powerfull it is) im considering nvidia 1070 or 1080 is because of nvidia shield streaming which i can hack to get 60fps 1080p full desktop streaming with peripherals on almost any hardware (tv's, raspberry pi, smartphone)

Calm down, this is probably the 1070/1080 contender and not 1080 Ti contender.

I wish all the best to AMD Vega but reality is reality i think GTX 1080Ti (GDDR5X) will easily knockout AMD Vega GPU with (HBM2) Memory.

I just want the release dates. I don't care about cherry picked benches by vendors. Single slot nano would be freaking awesome.

Lol poor Volta.

What if Volta kicks vegas  ass  them let me see a single comment with #poorvolta

Also does any one else think cards are getting ridiculously powerful..I  mean a 1080  can run most games at 4K 60  based on AMD demos  Vega  can run 4K 60 ..so assuming hype train nvidia would claim Volta does 4k 100  and one  more gen later both are doing 4K 144

Honestly mist people I  know can't tell difference between 100  and 144 hz or 1440p or4k  so  what next(i  guess VR)

GPU advancements has actually slowed down. A few generations ago you could expect a mid range card from the new generation matched the previous highest-end card, for like half the price if not less, and they were released yearly.

Imagine if the 2060 were just a few months away, it would cost 300 dollars and perform like the 1080, while using less power, producing less heat and have some cool  new features.

I  guess not a 1070>980ti (most cases)

xx70  being tier 2 batting a  tier 1 card from previous gen is a  pretty big jump(although I  got into pc gaming later  with a750ti  and into hardware with a970)
