Crytek has put out their CryENGINE roadmap for the next few months, including specific items planned for CryENGINE 5.2 and 5.3.

CryENGINE 5.2 is imminent with DirectX 12 multi-GPU support, its complete DX12 renderer, full C++11 support for engine code, potential PhysX support, and more.

With CryENGINE 5.3 due out in mid-October is when the developers are planning the full support for the Vulkan graphics API. Also planned for 5.3 are other graphics/rendering updates along with audio improvements, sandbox enhancements, and more.

holy shit! I can't wait for games already on CryEngine and future games that will use this engine to finally have DX12 and Vulkan render paths

since CryEngine is already Linux compatible (Ubuntu officially supported for now) this will mean a interesting future for Linux gaming and way to distance ourselves from the MicroSoft's cancer

Why go trough the trouble of going with both DX12 and Vulkan? Vulkan does exactly the same thing as DX12 but it's not restricted to W10. Like, why waste a bunch of time on DX12?

it gives devs the option to port the game to/from XB1

Does it add functionality to port games to Xbox?

Bleigh!  Ever hear of AC series?

Agree 100%. Vulkan works on linux, windows, android (Apple did not wanted and did not adopted it in it's system)

Computer users fall into two groups:
those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail.

CE V already supports DX12, but the implementation is awful due to the renderer dating back to DX9 days.

Hopefully this fixes that.

Yeah, this is awesome, they said about it before too that they'll implement new APIs to their engine core renderer. And all other additions they listed now.

Possibly. They said after they finished last one, that trilogy is done and that they do have ideas and plans for new Crysis game and that it will be different from trilogy.

So same way how ME trilogy and now ME:A I guess.

Vulkan in Cryengine, sweet.

I don't really see many benefits for Maxwell users though but Pascal... even though it's Maxwell 2.0 seems to really benefit from Vulkan just like the older Fury cards do. Not sure why... maybe it's the memory 5X... not sure why.   I've seen Doom on the 970 and it performed pretty much the same on Vulkan as it does in OpenGL.

if you'd have to chose between DX12 with W10 and Vulkan with W7, what would you chose? I'd chose W7

and better yet, if there's an option for Vulkan in Linux I'd chose that

indifferent if I have a Pascal or a Maxwell based card
