A snapshot is a photo that was taken randomly, without any consideration to the subject, framing, lighting, compositions, and/or other details. Most "photos" are snapshots. Not necessarily a bad thing, but generally, they don't look very good.

I see now. Honestly, that shot was fairly accidental, but it turned out well so I kept it.

I disagree with him, in some ways. It's definitely a snapshot, but I rather like it. :)

The mistake some "photographers" make is assuming all snapshots are bad.

For water I think you need to get a magenta filter like this to help with the colour in water, but GoPro colour correction in general is no different from any other camera.

8/10, like the perspective.

7/10, not too sure what the main subject is supposed to be. Nothing in particular catches my eye. I think it could have been better at a lower angle with more emphasis towards the rock.

here is a pic i got out on the san fransisco bay. It was a bit hazy so the city is not quite as clear as i would have liked in  the pic.

Its obviously the aurora borealis (Northern Lights). If you haven't heard: there was a rather large solar storm that was heading towards Earth earlier this week.

top one 7/10, the focus seems a little blurry, nice color, but some shadows and highlights could have helped the over all effect.

Anyways, this was taken on a phone  :o. However it's looking down at the ruins of a flour mill. Mill City Museum it is. I was there about a month ago, and yeah. I know I didn't take it in the ideal sort of fashion, but in proper lighting my Moto G 2nd can take pretty decent shots even if it's a cheap(er) mirrorless sensor with little to no aperture, lens/focal control, etc.

n9EKeOy.jpg?1

(It's not the greatest angle since I took it horizontally, I do however plan on saving up for something in the ball park of a Fujifilm X100T or something from the Canon Rebel family even though that's not exactly the aesthetic I want or the size I want. Though the Rebel is better than the X100T because it has a mirror. I guess...)

7/10, It's a little flat and the sharpness isn't very high. But interesting place.

Nice, sharp image!  i like the detail you were able to capture. 9/10

My image taken with a Mamiya 645, 80mm at f/1.9.  I wish the plant was a lot sharper.  I think the film was either Tri-x or HP5.

It is an interesting picture, with the weed crawling up the chain link fence and washed out colors. The left and right being out of focus really puts focus on the plant. The two feelings that come to mind are urban blight or hope for the future at the plant continued to crawl its way upward.

7/10 interesting shot, but it think it would have been better it it was taken centered instead of off to the side of the mirror.

@bob345

7/10  I like it but it would be better if the whole tail light was in focus.  I think the real narrow dof is cool and the reflection is cool but it could be better if the in focus part meant something.

as it stands it looks like shallow depth of field for the sake of shallow depth of field.  Still a good image though.

I don't mean to be overly critical but I feel like allot of people rate higher than they should because they either don't want to be mean or are a beginner.

I see what you are saying, at f 1.8 can be tricky to use :P

for you pic, id say 6/10. Good composition, The lighting seems not all that great and the reflection on the water looks a bit over exposed.

Taken the same day as the other one. I wish i could have gotten the whole car in the shot, but i was limited on where i could stand because of the amount of people surrounding the car. I think it looks pretty cool though.
