I sure do miss buying a game..... then having it , and playing it.......

Can't wait for cereal to adopt the same business strategy so I can rent a box of fruitloops that is 20% full and tastes like crap.

How is this different from that? You still own the game.

...also, what's the difference between now and the future? (bolded ?)

We also trusted CDPR to NOT do micro-transactions at all considering their numerous statements to the contrary...

I think a better word is expect. I don't know why you'd trust a company, who's real purpose is to money so that they can expand, not to try to capitalize on that in some way. Just seems a little naive.

Do I hear "overhyped game that'll never live up to its hype and will actually be dogshit?"

No.

I don't think it's wrong for the game to be as hyped as it is, given their track record.
I mean, this isn't Star Citizen.

Multiplayer mode is enough to make me avoid buying a game.

Why? No one makes you play it.

30 minutes ago, RejZoR said:

I don't understand why people are so outraged if microtransactions are done right. If microtransactions are limited to non essential cosmetics that do not affect gameplay, where is the problem? And if they'll continue to support, update and provide additional content post release, such microtransactions are a legit way to support them. Like I've said, I've seen them in Killing Floor 2 and Natural Selection 2 and they work wonderfully.

-snip-

Totally agree. I don't get people who are fighting this...unless, perhaps, they have no self control and find themselves buying the cosmetics.

i still belive that any game you have to buy should not have microtrasnactions at all. If you want MTX, then the base game should be free to play.

Cosmetics/Expansions are an exception to this

not a "microtransaction" as such to me, but i've seen people make the connection between microtransactions today and expansion packs/DLC from a few years ago, so it was more for clarity in case someone was to bring it up

Ahhh I see what you mean.

They did that for one of the CoD games...but not again since. I guess it didn't exactly go over well.

And I'm now half way through the scrapings of a Cinnzeo box, and the sugar high has denied the train returning to the station for consult.

No, they don't. Cyberpunk 2077 is a single-player game, it has no multiplayer. The multiplayer-game in the same universe is a separate thing.

Over hyping anything is wrong no matter whichever the company your talking about, wait and judge, CDPR has made subpar games in the past like the witcher 1 and 2. It seems like they learned a lot and hit a home run with TW3, hopefully Cyberpunk will live up to exceptions. Wait and buy the game after reviews come out.

A studio with excellent track record would be rockstar in terms of single player games, all the GTA and Red deads have been masterpieces worth playing.

Thats just your opinion. I disagree.

No? The single player is $60, 60-100 hour game, similar to Witcher 3,  multiplayer is a separate project entirely. Not even coming until after both paid expansions.

Someone didn't read the thread.

Item one, MTX were never actually mentioned, merely monetization of the multiplayer which is how they are going to make money off it, no more, no less. Selling the game for 60 bucks is monetization. Subscriptions are monetization. Private servers are monetization. In-universe ads with the proper aesthetic would be monetization.

Item two, the multiplayer is a separate game being made by a separate studio albeit with a lot of input from the main CDPR team. So it will probably be more Elder Scrolls Online than GTA Online in scope although hopefully with a smoother launch than that had.

If they went about it the way Warframe does, then I could see it being successful, where some folks play through the entire game, and have spent zero IRL monies in the game, and still been able to get anything and everything (the sole item being only founders/backers got Excalibur Prime).

Or how ESO does it, where you could buy 1500 Crowns for 15 bucks, or get the monthly subscription, with also gives you 1500 Crowns every month, as well as unlimited materials storage and a few other perks.

Uh... no, it will be part of the game. This is some high level mental gymnastics you're doing just to defend a company.

no. the singleplayer is the core game that they advertise. the multiplayer is not tied to the singleplayer.it doesnt come out with the singleplayer game. it is something different. I dont do gymnastics to defend this company im simply stating a fact. they said that the singleplayer and multiplayer are different. when you buy it you get the singleplayer game. no micro transactions just a good game. With paid dlc later to be added like blood and wine. The multiplayer part is separated. it isn't in the devopment at the same time as the singleplayer. in fact they only recently started on it. And it's still in it's basic concept form. It won't be out when the core game gets released. thus it's not part of the game. It ofc is part of cyberpunk but it's not together with the singleplayer game that you purchase at launch.

Or set in a different city entirely. For instance, we know Chicago has been rebuilt during CP Red. Could be interesting to see a CP city built atop the ruins of Chi-town. This would allow them to place it soon after or concurrent with the events of CP2077 without having to change the plot. Various news bits could reflect the goings on in the player's CP2077 run without being seen by any other players.

MTX for cosmetics are annoying as well to be honest.

Take Leage of Legends, a few years ago that was great fun, you could spend a little or earn some rare skins if you wanted and it was happy days.

Now they release so many skins, half of them look similar in some way. Its flooded with so many, for the sake of MTX's, that when you play the game you can barely tell what toons you're fighting against now.

Its a mess.

They skin the games to death these days now.

You download the file, that acts as a link for the game engine to pick up on, and pulling up a live audio stream whilst in game. Like if you had a thumbnail on your desktop that whenever you clicked on it the browser opened up to a 24/7 livestream.

But without the browser part. Also there are DMCA takedowns and such with livestreams if they play audio they do not have the rights to.

Livestreams and radio are not the same. and if they're streaming and an actual radio is playing there's supposed to be protection from DMCA on that, unless they changed it because you can't control what plays on the radio.

Honestly, if they still provide a good single player experience, and the microtransactions are only cosmetic, I dont really care.

Battlefield V and Battlefield 1 have cosmetic only microtransactions, and that has never bothered me, even though I dont buy them.

I trust CDPR to do it right. They have earned my trust. Although I'd rather they focus on single player expansions like they did with the Witcher 3, rather than multiplayer with microtransactions.

I'm saying that the livestream would function as an in-game "radio station itself". Not that they would be playing radio in the background of the livestream.

You get in the car or whatever vehicle, or just activate a "radio app" in game, and the livestream starts playing instead of pre-recorded music or "radio stations" like GTA has.

Kind of like how people do EVE Radio stations, which are live streams done in a similar content format to real radio stations, but for the EVE universe.

http://eve-radio.com/

As an example. Although those are just something you might have open in the background whilst playing. I'm saying integrate something like that, into the actual game.
