And yes why would we need a show? There will most likely be in game solutions to this, chat broadcasts, etc. We could however use twitter or something like that to increase cohesion and direction within the conglomerate.

In other news, SC is going to hit $40 million today! Pledges have gone down a bit last period, however, I am really curious how it will go when the DFM is out.

For now, we're getting closer and closer to the Procedural Generation Team being implemented at $41 million.

it will help to make a difference, it means they can get more devs to work on the lacking parts, get more licencing for cool additions to the game, better more robust server infrastructure, etc. it is simply amazing that the community wants this game this badly.

Basically the more money we put into this game the better it'll be. It's already gonna be an awesome game(hopefully) with $40 million having been reached.

I saw recently that they had about 100 devs working on the game full time and something like 110 freelance devs working on it

Don't forget about the money they will need over time for the PU to stay running. This game already has almost 500k people and it isnt even out yet. Imagine what it will be like when it is out and everyone has a chance to see what we have seen. I think the fact that this is the first AAA title produced without a Publisher and only with fan support proves that we can have what we want instead of the crap that they tell us we want. I hope that this is just the beginning and that other good developers take CR lead and try and do it on there own. I think that CR has proven that without a publisher breathing down his neck he has the time to do it right. I mean he has already delayed once for 6 months just because he felt it wasn't ready. If it was EA they would have said screw it and put it out any way. Sorry about the rant, I just feel what CR is doing for PC gaming will be good for us all in the long run.

Totally agreed, what Chris is doing is entirely as he wants it to be. Hell, he wanted to do it before with Wing Commander/Freelancer, but the technology to realise it just wasn't there.

It is something new and not just your generic FPS that gets hyped up and fails in the end. (Assuming that this won't flop, which I think is highly unlikely). Not having a publisher breathing down your neck, as you said, benefits the project and development in a big way and that is what people are looking for.

The thing is although they don't have a publisher in the common sense they have US. Hence the very open development, not many devs give this level of view into the process.

 

I do trust him as well otherwise I would not have paid about £100 into this already.
