You can manipulate PDFs with it, in terms of deleting and rearranging pages, as well as combining files.

Unless it is really ancient or has a bad implementation of battery management, you can't overcharge. Battery management prevents that.

It depends on what you're trying to do, although they both do mostly the same thing. Darktable is used for professional photo editing and correction while working with many photos (hundreds or thousands), and is most similar to Adobe Lightroom. GIMP is better for manipulating single images and is similar to Photoshop. I use it mainly for Youtube thumbnails, layering images on top of each other and adding text.

As an example, here are some images I've made with them:
Darktable: (This photo isn't amazing but I'm still learning)

GIMP: (From a video about playing music on stepper motors)

I agree with all the programs you listed, and I also recommend Kdenlive as a video editor. It has great tutorials on Youtube, is relatively easy to get working, and has been my favorite video editor for about a year. It's pretty similar to Sony Vegas Pro but is free and open-source. I tried using DaVinci Resolve a couple years ago, but it ended up being much more complex than I wanted and ran extremely slowly on older hardware.

GIMP and Darktable are both great. I mainly use GIMP for making video thumbnails and Darktable for editing photos from my DSLR camera.

Audacity has been my go-to for well over a decade - it's a bit weird to get used to but is very powerful. I also haven't heard anything about spyware claims.

Davinci Resolve is great. Yes, it may crash from time to time... Didn't happen to me yet, but ADOBE alternatives crash constantly too.

Photopea (in browser)... Way better than GIMP

Audacity works fine for most people but it also can be annoying sometimes... Depends on what you do. I don't know anything about those spyware claims though.

VoidThinker reacted to da na in Hot exhaust air blowing directly at cables, can it damage them?
Nope, coatings on computer cables are built to be able to stand up to higher temperatures than a computer (should) ever reach. In fact, some cables have heat ratings written on them if you are ever bored and have a magnifying glass.

VoidThinker reacted to GoodBytes in Is it normal that these two services has access to microphone?
Windows host process is the Legacy Sound Panel. The moment you open it and go to the Record tab, it is enabled. This is for the mic volume tracking.
As for "Host Process for Windows Services" This sadly can be anything. A Win32 application can directly use a microphone, which will show in the list for itself, or could implement legacy Windows way and that is going through the Windows service. In my case, it was the audio driver control panel which I removed.

I'd do NTFS personally. Unless you have a specific need for exFAT, like cross compatibility with other platforms like a console.

The A8 has quite a bad screen as I saw it on display in a shop. The MatePad is from huawei and huawei is quite done for, if you don't have google services you are in for one heck of a strugle. The Realme Pad is the one device I have and the device I would suggest getting. It has good battery life and the speakers are quite good (not iPad level but more than your average phone). Also the screen gets quite dim if that's something you are looking for.
P.S if you need any more info about it just let me know

The a8s screen is actual garbage and I cant believe that is still showing up on a tab in 2022.

The realme is better but not great either. However of the 3 its the least bad one

VoidThinker reacted to VIVO-US in Recommend me monitor arm (32inch) for this table
Thanks for recommending our stands!  We do have one more that may actually work well for the desk setup.
    https://vivo-us.com/products/stand-v101bb
The clamp is instead tightened from above to make the plate below as thin as possible, so it can fit into a thin slot and still have a tight hold.  As long as the 32" monitor weight 17.6lbs or less when removed from the original stand, it will be supported without any problem.

I have that monitor mount that @Poinkachulinked. Its fairly heavy. Thought Im using a 25" ultrawide in portrait mode with it, so its not really carrying a heavy screen, but the base is decently heavy.

VoidThinker reacted to Poinkachu in Recommend me monitor arm (32inch) for this table
Heavy enough and wide enough base plate.
Emphasis a bit more on the wide side, since once there's a monitor mounted on it, the weight of the monitor gonna send pressure somewhat downward, under the monitor.

Well, if it's me, and I deem the base of the stand isn't good enough for the task.
and the table is cheap enough.
I'll just drill a hole through the base & table, and then use nuts & bolts to secure it. 😂

If that's not possible, I'll slap some VHB Double Tape under the base.

Depends, can you drill a hole on that table?
If yes, then something like this is possible too :
    https://vivo-us.com/collections/monitor-mounts/products/stand-v001
Or other model from that brand that has 2 options for mounting, clamp based mounting or grommet based mounting.
    https://vivo-us.com/collections/monitor-mounts/amount-of-screens_1?page=1

If you read the Assembly Manual pdf of the model, you'll see how the grommet based mounting works.

Linus used that brand in this video :

    Side note :
If you want it to have a really moving arm though, most likely you will have to drill your table. Or secure the base somehow.
Because there's no way the tabletop base gonna hold if you pull the arm fully forward or sideways.

With smaller monitor it may work, but with heavy monitor, it will need to be secured tightly in place.
Unless the base is really wide & big enough to counter the monitor's weight.

Neither, you should have them around 60-70% charge ideally.
And power them up regularly to check they haven't self-discharged too much, if so bring them back up to the above and note how much time it's taken to know when you should look at them again.

VoidThinker reacted to varrys in Recommend me some games for Logitech Extreme 3D Pro
Elite: Dangerous is a space flight game, and I used the same joystick when I first played years ago. Didn't feel like the mouse gave an aiming advantage based on the weapons I used.

I tried MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries with a joystick, and though the extra buttons were great for weapons groups and other things like jump jets, I felt the game required more quick accuracy that the mouse provides to play well.

I've bought Star Wars Squadrons with intent to play with joystick but haven't yet. Some reviews say it's best with joystick.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is likely an obvious joystick game but I don't play it.

Sadly there are fewer games where a joystick is a must, or even an advantage. But if you want to go old school, I played tons of space flight games in the olden days. You can check out something like Privateer 2, or Freespace 1 and 2, or Starlancer and Freelancer. Great stories and made for joysticks.

Yeah? That's part of the reason that they're so popular. Just make sure you get a good one, not some crap gaming board. Also, if you forgo LEDs, the board will likely last much longer, since you won't have to worry about the possibility for LED failure.
