Insurer now offering “troll insurance” for victims of online harassment

Chubb, an international insurer now provides "troll insurance", the first ever.  As it reads, Cyberbullying is defnied as "three or more acts by the same person or group to harass, threaten or intimidate a customer"

 

 

Chubb personal insurance policy holders will be able to claim up to £50,000 towards expenses that include professional counselling, relocation due to online abuse, or time spent off work.

 

 

I know cyberbullying has been on a high lately, with many cases of teenagers hanging themselves or going on rampages etc etc.  I don't think is made for them as I doubt they are mature enough to seek professional help.  This seems to me more like cyberbullying in the workplace, by colleagues or your boss.  They will even hire a forensic specialist to trace the origins of such activities, in order to prevent it from happening again.

 

 

"So we still help to restore homes, cars and belongings that have suffered physical harm or damage, but increasingly it's about the person and how they cope."

Although the new policy is primarily tailored towards worried parents, adults who become victims of online abuse will also be covered. The policy money can be used to pay a reputation management team that would restore the person's public image, or even to hire a forensic specialist to trace the origins of the trolling.

 

 

Do you think this "troll insurance" should exist, and if so anything to add from that end?  Or do you think people should just deal with it as they have?  Many people do need help, especially those who have gone through bullying from a young age and may not know how to deal with it properly.

IMO this may be abused and could drive up insurance cost

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

There must be a catch, I don't believe a serious insurance company would offer a policy almost guaranteed to have multiple claims by the insured people, It would be like a for profit insurance company giving full medical coverage  no questions asked to terminal cancer patients as a pre-existing condition: might as well burn your money guys.

Someone create a "stop being such a damned pussy" classes. Teach people use the proper tactic, and IGNORE trolls and bullies. If you IGNORE them, they tend to just go away because they get bored.
