[Mini-News] Facebook is working on a dislike button

It's known that for many years Facebook has been saying they don't want to add a dislike button. The reason is pretty simple, you can easily see it becoming a way to harass people, and yes, there are many people out there that care about these things. I'm sure everyone knows at least one.

 

That all said, Facebook has apparently had a change of heart. It's making a Dislike button, and it's apparently going to head into testing soon. "People have asked about the 'Dislike' button for many years ... and today is a special day, because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it and are very close to shipping a test of it," Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said today during a public Q&A session, according to CNBC.

 

Furthermore, he doesn't want it to become just a tool of down voting, but a way to "share empathy". Good luck with that.

"That doesn't seem like the kind of community that we want to create: You don't want to go through the process of sharing some moment that was important to you in your day and have someone 'downvote' it," he said, using the lingo of popular online forum Reddit.

 

Honestly, I couldn't care less about this, but I can see it's gonna affect a lot of people, and I don't mean in a good way. I really hope people won't do dumb things because of it.

It was socially upset enough when FB started to bring up bad memories in the anniversary video fb made out of all their history, if fb ever has  Dislike option, it will be hard on a lot of people and will be socially harassed, unless of course the Likes are negatived by the dislike.

Anyways, seems like it's going to cause more trouble than it's worth. I don't use Facebook though, I don't really understand the micro culture behind it.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.

Yeah bad idea.

Although it would be nice to be able to downvote stupid celebs and politicians! I hope we can downvote pages as well if this becomes possible.

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

In my day, we didn't have likes or dislikes, upboats downboats.  If someone said something dumb, you just told them they're stupid.

 

I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't use facebook.

I know, but I don't think it would be a good idea, maybe change the "like" to "agree" and also add "disagree" or something more fancy like that.

Neutral.

 

I only use FB as I have to follow some university groups that can't afford SquareSpace. The content on FB has meh-levels of opinion, so I think it's useless.
