Started with a Samsung S390G (Tracfone...), and I've now had my 16GB iPhone 4S for a year. It's a trusty phone, and it'll last me a while until I can get my own plan; I currently use Freedompop.

I've been through about 15 phones in the last year.

I get one phone a year on my contract and I like to keep that nice and fresh, I got a Note 3 this time last year and I'm due for a new iPhone 6 next week.

But I snowboard alot and I've not been able to keep my phones safe when I do so. So I got through about one a week during the peak season, I just buy el cheapo android units for the purpose now.

I had an HTC One 7, Galaxy S4, Lg G2, Nexus 5, iPhone 5, iPhone 6 and now a oneplus one.

I started by trading a computer that I bought for $400 for the One m7 and $100. I pretty much recycled that money to get all of these devices. I would say I only spent $600 for all these phones combined (including the cost of the PC).

A few candy bar and flip phones as well as my treasured Sony Ericsson swivel phone. Then came the LG cookie, and the cookie fresh (in which the screen died after 8 months) then the samsung Galaxy ace, followed by a brief stint with the S3 which I borrowed, then I got my current phone which is the htc windows phone 8S. Now, I'm on the hunt for my next device.

Easily 30+... When i was younger i got a lot of phones from my father... Hell, i was changing them every 3 months (my friends were making fun of me and saying i changed phones as much as i changed socks...)... Like i said, my father was always interested in tech :D They never were the highest end, but they were mid-high range :D

The only phone i paid for from my own pocket/savings is my Samsung Galaxy Ace, my first Android... I could've went with so much better phone... -_- I paid 288 euros for it at the time :D

My first phone was some Sony Ericsson that I got when I started school in the year 2008. It was my dad's previous phone, so I didn't pay anything for that. About a year later, that phone went through a washing machine and died. The SIM card fortunately survived, and I got the phone that my dad used before this one: some old Nokia (probably a 3310 :D ). Used that until late 2010, when I got my first smartphone: a Nokia 5230. That was the Moto G of that time - the go-to budget phone. It was one of the few to support 3G, but unfortunately not WiFi. The price was about 300 euros, but it was a birthday present so I didn't pay anything. Fast-forward to 24th of December 2011. Android 2.3 Gingerbread was just released, and I got a Samsung Galaxy Gio for Christmas. That was my first Android device - and it was running the latest operating system - it had Gingerbread out of the box. Unfortunately, as this was a budget Samsung phone, that was the last Android version for it. I didn't use it a lot though, as I bought an iPad 2 about a month later, but I still felt a little sad when Ice Cream Sandwich was launched and I didn't get the update. In Mid 2014, I discovered an unofficial port of CyanogenMod 11 for my device. This would've been awesome.... If there was a package of Google Apps small enough for my device. I installed CM 10.1 instead, and I did like Jelly Bean. However, I did run a bit slow. It would take about 30 seconds to unlock if I was lucky. That phone was a single-core 800 MHz ARMv6.1 Snapdragon S1 with 340MB of RAM, so of course Jelly Bean would've been slow. A few months later, I went back to Gingerbread, but this time to CyanogenMod 7.2. That ROM was quite stable. I was actually able to have all my apps installed and not get a "Low on storage" warning. Ah, yes, I almost forgot: the phone had no internal storage. You had the /system partition, about 200MB of /data, where your apps would go to, and then you had to rely on micro SD. It came with a 2GB card, which I would've definitely filled up if I could've moved all my apps to it. Anyway, back to the story. On my 14th birthday, I bought an HTC One M8, my first high-end smartphone. A week later, it was running CyanogenMod 11. On January 2nd, 2015, I switched to Lollipop with CyanogenMod 12. Then, about 3 weeks later, I got S-OFF and converted the phone to a Google Play Edition device. Why? CM12 was a bit unstable. But right now, with the GPE stock ROM, it's very stable. However, I might switch back to HTC Sense soon, as I want to see how good Sense 7 will be.
