I would stick with the manufacturers: Intel, Samsung, Crucial and OCZ. Look for the sales. I would also throw in the MX100 especially the 256gb. You have limited space for drives in a laptop so making it bigger would be wise.

Sir William of Orange: Corsair 230T - Rebel Orange, 4690K, GA-97X SOC, 16gb Dom Plats 1866C9,  2 MX100 256gb, Seagate 2tb Desktop, EVGA Supernova 750-G2, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, DK 9008 keyboard, Pioneer BR drive. Yeah, on board graphics - deal with it!

ADATA or Intel. Don't just choose because of the brand, choose because of what is inside. The ADATA and Intel are the ones that use MLC NAND and a SandForce controller, which is a great combination.

I wouldn't go for the 840 EVO, since you have the choice between MLC and TLC SSDs. Everyone saying Samsung is just on the bandwagon. There are better SSDs on this list, including the two above, as well as the Crucial M550.

I would also take a look into possibly getting a 256GB Crucial MX100 or ADATA SP600, because when it comes to a single laptop drive, the extra capacity does help much more over a second or two faster boot times.

Being honest the Marvell controller is better than the Sandforce. Crucial uses the Marvell.

Sir William of Orange: Corsair 230T - Rebel Orange, 4690K, GA-97X SOC, 16gb Dom Plats 1866C9,  2 MX100 256gb, Seagate 2tb Desktop, EVGA Supernova 750-G2, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, DK 9008 keyboard, Pioneer BR drive. Yeah, on board graphics - deal with it!

Intel and Samsung are good ones. Corsair's Neutron GTX series is also a great choice, apparently that thing can easily write a couple of petabytes (1PB = 1000TB) before you start seeing problems.

Get the cheapest one...

Maybe that's just me, but for the love of the Maker I have no idea why I'd practically want anything but the cheapest one that still has a decent warranty.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

I'd say get a crucial mx100 256gb, it's the best cheap ssd at the moment and has just as good speeds as most of the others. Plus it's made by crucial, who is a nand manufacturer, meaning that it's more likely IMO that you'll get a good drive, due to having pick of the draw in chips.

The 256gb MX100 is by far the better option. It should be somewhere around the same pricing as the 120gb up there on your list, barring sales.

It's actually an option. but it's write speed is only 150mb/s?

So ?

all of other options sux at writes just aswell, they just have fancier ways of masking it (evo by turbowrite, sandforce drives with compression, ocz with performance mode).

Sequential Write speed is the last thing you look at SSDs nowdays.
