iPhone X is dead as consumers turn their backs on pricey smartphones

There's a difference between Amazon, or any retailer, raising the price of an item to account for demand and a manufacturer themselves doing it. There's a reason why manufacturers don't generally raise the price of their products.

What? You telling me oems do not obey laws of supply and demand?

look, selling anything other than the equilibrium means loss of profits. It is economic 101. Why is oneplus not raising prices? Explain.

One Plus is raising prices -- they have raised prices every single generation. And OEMs very often don't raise prices of products to account for demand, they wait until the next generation.

Apple’s earnings announcement is on 1st May. This is simply nothing more than an attempt to depress the stock price prior to Apple announcing record earnings once again.

Doesn’t matter if their margin remains the same. High cost can just be increased costs of mananfacturing thanks to more ram( oneplus 5t is 8 gigs) and better hardware rather than than company being greedy and charging higher margin.

I mean technically it’s on the Mac via a wrapper. But in 2014 it wasn’t and I wanted a platform for gaming and while Macs can game, the PC I built is going to be much better at it.

The two are good at different things. My MacBook is a better daily driver and video editor. My PC is a gaming platform and multi-tasker.

I always hear people talking about video editing on macs. I don't do any video editing so it's not something I'm savvy in. What is it about the Mac that gets it right for a lot of people?

All I have to say in regards to this topic is that the iPhone 8+ is going to be my last major purchase technology wise for now.

I'm convinced that we've reached the "Diminishing Returns" part of the smartphone scale where manufacturers are running out of ideas to justify why their phones should cost more than they're worth.

When I used FCP over Vegas for instance, I just enjoyed the layout and ease of use for commands. Nothing against Vegas, just liked FCP more.

Shiny plus Apple logo for most.

macs are a favorite among the computer science/engineering students on my campus though. Mostly because it is Unix so there is a nice terminal and because.... how else are they going to develop Mac applications and iOS apps?

The argument essentially boils down to Mac vs PC. FinalCut is only available on the Mac and really you should only be editing with FinalCut on a Mac.

Premiere isn't the only video editing software that exists for Windows, however. A more apt comparison would be to bench a multitude of different video editing software (alongside FCPX) under similar conditions.

Obviously, if none of the competing software can come close to FCPX on similarly specced hardware and similar conditions, then would it be fair to call the Macintosh the faster platform for video editing. I don't think a fair platform comparison can be made based on just Premiere alone.

AFAIK there is no good video editing software on Windows that takes advantage of Quicksync.

I have doubts that FCPX uses QuickSync tbh. A custom gpu encoder, most certainly (and probably AVX as well), though I hadn't seen any QuickSync encodes that are above "passable" quality without obscenely high bit rates.

whats the point of arguing with those people?

macOS. I have to admit I HATED macOS when I was using it the 1st time... everything seems too pretty and lack of function.

Then I got used to it, then I started to dislike windows.

And a year or two later, macOS becomes my primary OS.

I use a macbook and hook it to my monitor, while there is a i7 8700 8GB of ram 1060 machine sitting under the desk.

Still I prefer macOS than windows 10.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

it's really overpriced.. but my wife wanted one so i bought her one. for someone on their phone all the time, the screen, battery life and running ios for her is what she loves.

i have a Samsung galaxy S7 Edge, just as good a screen a bit cheaper $1,200AUD when i bought it, better than the $1,800AUD apple wants for their iPhone X.

How many people go thats is hell over priced but here is my money anyway. Apple modeling normally includes a replacement handset in that cost.

ive had a hardware fault and Samsung are impossible to deal with and they want to repair and hand back the device. the device never was the same again after it was opened and fixed. they glue it back together. it took 2 weeks to get it fixed, they have heaps of stores but only one repair store in the whole state.

As much as i dislike Apple, i know for sure if i walked into a store and said i had an equivalent issue they'd just swap out the device with a refurb.

After 3 years on Samsung would i go back to Apple even if it was $1,800AUD... maybe.. yes i wanted customization which is why i left but i want customer service as well...

Maybe things are better in the USA or Canada, but in Australia Samsung is horrid.

Mine was a moisture sensor issue when it hadn't been wet, and their system said it hadn't been in water.

They said in the store, yeah the new S8+'s do that all the time... its some software bug that happens once its marked with this problem the board needs to be thrown out and replaced.

They did go over it for 2 days and in the store for at least 30 min's making sure "it had not been anywhere near water". they don't cover anything with water damage. even though they advertise go use it in the water. must be fresh water apparently. no swimming pools, no sea water or it will destroy it.

there wouldn't be many pools that have no chemicals in them.. unless they are green, no ones really going to go swimming in there.

It is waterproof in the sense of rain and in the shower. thats about it.
