Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

really? to me i'd actually at least body match the door trim because black door trim on colored doors kinda spells cheap to me.

I really like the old school 2 tone bumpers cars had. This isn't the same exactly, but I still like it a lot.

Yeah, same trailer that brought the parts car home

May still do the galaxy headliner someday

i say either galaxy headliner or alcantara headliner, if it's not cost prohibitive.

So. When exactly is a "break in" oil change needed when it comes to a new engine? Of course it wouldn't be needed on a factory engine. But what requires the break in change? Cams? Pistons? Both? Just kinda wondering

500 miles. Its usually rings that require a break in period.

I've heard from 500 to 1000 miles on a fresh build. But never heard what part exactly of a fresh build requires the oil change. Will need to keep that in mind though.

Is it recommended to do mostly highway miles? City miles? Does it matter? I know you of course shouldn't beat on a fresh engine and probably keep it under 3K RPM

I haven't the slightest idea. But I know it irritates the absolute hell out of me. What I have to wonder is if the fuel tables are tied to waste-gate stepped tables. If they are that might be a bitch because I want it to be more progressive than what it currently is.

IIRC it's ECU related. So a stage 1 tune may be your only friend

Break in procedures can be debated forever. Theres no "true" method. Me personally, the only thing I change from my normal driving is varying RPM. If you keep a constant RPM the rings will not seat properly. I don't really abide by the whole "avoiding excessive RPM" thing. A properly built engine should be good to go after the first drive and cool down cycle.

They're ECU controlled electronic actuators iirc.

Its likely aggressive to prevent detonation because of direct injection.

Getting it tuned is probably the only way to "fix" it.

It really depends on the automaker, but I believe many will recommend taking it easy the first few thousand miles, and avoid long constant RPM trips... so basically don't road trip across the US with a brand new car.  This was for Honda I believe.

Basically just do your usual short commute, though I doubt too much would happen either way.
