Amazon patents a mirror that shows you in virtual clothes

Remember the Echo Look? You would have it take pictures of you wearing various outfits and it would judge your fashion sense for you and make recommendations and whatnot. Well Amazon is back with a patent for a smart mirror that will blend reality to show you with what you could look like wearing clothing you could potentially buy. Here's how it works:

The blended-reality display, described in a patent published today, relies on a system of cameras, projectors, displays, mirrors and lights that can add layers of pixels to your moving image on a real-time basis. “When the user views the mirror, the user sees a reflection from the mirror of illuminated objects in the scene and the transmitted images from the display device through the mirror, the transmitted images being perceived as part of the reflected scene,” the inventors say.

For example, the transmitted image could show a beachside scene, or the dance floor at Seattle’s Museum of History and Industry. The image would be processed to put you into the scene, and potentially superimpose virtual clothes — say, a swimsuit, or that cocktail dress — onto your real body. Face-tracking sensors and sophisticated software would manage the display so that you saw a realistic blended picture from any angle.

This comes after Amazon acquired 'Body Labs,' that "ability to create 3D models of human bodies in motion and then dress them in virtual outfits." This is also combined with Amazon's increasing interest in the fashion industry by launching their own clothing lines and designing clothing. (TheVerge.com)

Pretty sweet, i'd love one, but I still like to try things on for the fit =/

 

Guess it's okay if you wanna see what clothes go together etc..

I probs should've mentioned in OP but I believe it is supposed to/speculated to help you determine if something fits your frame. Apple's ARkit demo was able to measure objects just with the camera (maybe only dual camera models). So Amazon could be doing the same thing and take extensive measurements of their clothing lineup. I bet they'll garuntee a perfect fit if you check your fit with their clothes using this product.

Ah right, gotcha... but..... does amazon have it's own brand o.0 ? or will this be adapted for 3rd party sellers ?

Yay, another always on camera potentially always watching an entire room of your house!

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Not hard to put a black card attached with string hanging infront of the camera if you're that antsy about it.
