Tech of Tomorrow potentially shutting down

Juanitology

I agree with you man
While I do like his video content because of his style which is different from the rest

but if the way he treats his viewers or customers or even partners with vulgarities

6 hours ago, dizmo said:

I never liked his content as I think he was trying to go at it from a layman's perspective, which I don't like. If I'm going to watch/read reviews on something I want it to be from someone knowledgeable. If I don't understand something, I'll Google what that is and learn something more.

I find it pathetic he'd post something like that on social media. Yeah, I get it, he's going through hard times. Guess what. So are millions of other people. It's just a cry for sympathy and attention.

He likely lost his business partners for a reason. I'd bet he's partially to blame, judging on his interactions with others.

People lose business partners all the time. You don't say you're going to kill yourself. You pick up, and find another solution.

I see it as a money grab. All the points are hit. His wanting to die, lost business, but won't because of his family...so he's using them as a sympathy point. Simply pathetic.

I didn't know people had more than two ;)

Haha, holy. That's brutal. If he treats people that way I'm surprised he still has a channel at all. Not surprising that he lost his business partners, I'd bet he treats them in much the same fashion.

Never really liked the way he present himself in his video.

No matter what kind of person he really is, going through all those things sucks huge balls.

Hope he feel better and find a way through.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

It's a shame that he is depressed and wants to kill himself, not saying anything about that, but I don't get how people can like him.

Edit: Seems like he hasn't changed during these past 2 years either. I looked him up on Twitter and wouldn't you know it, here is a tweet from earlier this month where he tells people he "hope they die a horrible death" because his package got lost in the mail.

https://twitter.com/TechOf_Tomorrow/status/938175015819796480

how is this guy still allowed on youtube? What in the fuck? And I got a permanent strike on my channel for streaming a berserk game which had cutscenes from the anime. Rip.

seeing on what people are saying, its the right thing for him to go down. He should quit youtube and get another job instead. Bias, elitism and rudeness dont have a place.

For instance even when jays goes mental, he apologises after. Even when people call linus a shill or dont like his video styles, he still strives to be factual. Linus does his best to teach tech but in an entertaining way so you actually learn. All these big tech youtubers actually put in effort into producing good content and being good themselves to everyone. They listen to their viewers and work something out.

It really sucks that he feels down to the point of thinking of suicide, but honestly that sort of tweet is in line with the sort of outrageous comments he has been known to make. I'm not sure the world at large needs to know he's suicidal - it creates an embarassing situation even for his associates and family. I'm sorry he won't get to do what he loves for a living anymore (regardless of the quality of his content), but I can't help thinking that maybe he wasn't cut for it. I hope he finds a new job that helps him provide for himself and his family and makes his life a little less stressful.

I stopped watching his videos some time ago. He simply doesn't know what he is talking about most of the time, so I don't really get anything out of watching his videos anymore. Feel sorry for him, as his health isn't exactly helping, but nothing I can do about it.

Sad to see whats happening to him and his channel. I rarely watch his content anymore ever since he amputated his feet.
IMHO, everything went south for him ever since he lost motherboards.org to corporate devil circa 2013(i think).

Also about that lost package.

He's a huge heavy metal fans and he did have his own band. He sings and make his own heavy metal music. IINM, all metal music in his videos is created by him too. I can totally understand why he so fucking pissed when UPS "lost" that AMP he wanted so bad.

I've read about his rudeness from time to time but he never rude in any of my comments in many years and i commented a lot.

I've only watched 1 or 2 of his videos, one was for research purpose about some gpu I was interested in and the other one was when JJ from Asus was talking about the new boards of that time. The problem with him is, his technological expertise isn't up to level with those that know a lot more than him, and then this like to interrupt every seconds when they speak by jabbing in some simple terms, as if he knows what's he's talking about.

The other person that I don't watch was some host from PCPP. During some live stream with JJ from Asus, he said something at the very beginning where it immediately tells me he's a non-techie and JJ has to quickly correct him on it.

The thing with Jay though is that he's never this malicious or outrageous; at worst he calls somebody an idiot and maybe goes on a Twitter rant if it's about a product or service (Like with AMD or that one liquid cooling vendor/manufacturer). I never got the feeling he treated any of us, the viewers, badly though. Like there's never been a case where i felt Jay was unappreciative or abusive.

Holy crap, just checked because it sounded unbelievable but it's actually true and it has been like this for a while actually.

Just checked another channel i'm subscribed to with 70k subs and the average views per video is much higher.

Even tarans video's are close to those numbers and he only has 49k subs.

Well, i believe he gets what he deserved, he has been in the news for being a POS before and because it clearly didn't stop i'm not surprised people stopped watching.

It's actually quite funny that teksyndicate is in a very similar situation right now when you look at amount of subs and amount of views.

And wendells channel (level1techs) has around 200k subs but more average views per video, imo it seems clear to me who used to make teksyndicate great :D

I think we wouldn't miss tech of tomorrow that much if he does decide to stop with the channel.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

I think I understand why he failed.

Granted he was passionate about that’s he did as a tech reviewer, he had ONE style of making videos. He was highly knowledgeable about everything and gave amazing information on such things. But, as a content provider, he never changed up his game as a business. He loves rock and metal music and would ALWAYS, I MEAN ALWAYS, make jokes, puns and/or comments to go around that. If his channel was called “Metal Tech” or something, then it’d make sense. But he’s been doing the same act since I first started watching him and at that time, I loved his style because it was him being him. But he treated it as a hobby and since he never changed his style, his business crippled severely. For example, LinusTechTips changes their styles quite often throughout the year and succeeds.

He could have as well if it just would have changed it up.

Those of you ridiculing the guy can fuck right off. There aren't many of you in this thread, but you know who you are.

Someone who goes onto a very public, very visible venue and expresses a desire to kill themselves is in a very bad place. They need support, not people joking about how crazy or hateful they are. No, Elric's not perfect. He may not be suited for a YouTube career, but that doesn't make him a pin cushion. He's a guy who's poured time, energy and money into making something work, has been hit with numerous speed bumps along the way (some of them his own doing) and now seems to be watching the dream crumble. No one's going to take that well, but once the word "suicide" shows up in conversation, it's time to ease off the shots .

Talk about what got him here, sure. There's no question whatsoever that his own words played a part in his channel's decline. He doesn't respond well to criticism, and when you're a mid-major YouTube channel and you respond like that, you're just guaranteeing yourself more criticism. But don't go into a thread that he may well stumble across and compare him to your crazy ex-girlfriend, don't say that he's no loss to the community, and don't you ever, ever fucking say that someone's only talking about killing themself for the attention. Ever.

I wish the best for Elric. YouTube isn't his thing, but lots of things we try aren't our thing. I'm not saying that those of us who know nothing about the guy beyond what we see on YouTube need to rush in and tell him how amazing he is, because we don't know that. We do owe him the dignity of not rubbing his face in shit or questioning the sincerity of a man whose dream just ended when he says he's thinking about killing himself.

See, I doubt this is going to change people's minds, and honestly, most people might even just scroll past your comment and not care.

Yes I see that he has been going through a lot, but you cannot just forget the things he says to people. Being in a medical situation such as his doesn't give him the freedom to treat people like garbage, and if his attitude is pushing viewers away, it's only going to go downhill from here and he'll continually become more and more irrelevant as time goes on...And in his situation, he may not find much that he can do.

I have not watched his videos in recent history, and I cannot deny his poor treatment of certain users. I do not know what my opinion of him is...It might even be borderline indifference, but I do have enough care to say that I wish him the best, and I surely hope that his attitude improves, and I want it to improve. I seriously wish him the best.

kinda about time for his channel to go, as sure he had a niche back in the day mixing technology videos with metal, but after the abusive rants a few years ago, and not really considering that his actions against the viewers would have consequences, i just stopped watching, and it's the same with tom logan, berates the viewers, doesn't really show any consideration towards the viewers, when they literally pay the bills and enable you to get press samples, and have really stale productions, like it's been said with linus, at least he's changed to keep with the times, and has enough foresight to try and see what is coming, and collab with other creators to spice things up a little.

Oh no.
Hear that everybody?
Somebody with a failing business is on Twitter saying they're thinking of killing themselves.
We should all financially support this person, whom we have documented evidence of abuse, so they can get back up on their feet and continue to fail in their business.

Nobody is going after or targeting Elric, we're all just talking on this thread about what we think about this situation lmao

You can be as edgy as you want and make your "demands" over this Malaysian techno-carpentry forum about how we shouldn't meme on abusive content creators who say they think of suicide because nobody likes their abuse, but that doesn't mean anything to us lmao
