Triple drive, I run 8 DRIVES in my current system!

2 Being SSD's, all the others being HDD's.
I wouldn't be able to live without all of those.

CD's are still common btw.

And I quite like the front 5.25" bays.
Allows fan controllers, extra IO like USB/SD.

Or just reading old Mini-DVD movies like I'm currently doing, converting them from .VRO to .MP4.
If they would completely dump all those support my entire Mini-DVD "collection" is now stuck in the nether; GG.

Also YES PLEASE!

I bought my DDR3 when they where not terribly expensive, even got 32GB's of 1600MHz Corsair LP memory

But when looking to upgrade, I found out that getting the same amount of memory would run me over € 350.
One of the reasons I hold back on upgrading my system for now.

Exactly, I have no need upgrade my CPU at the moment but I did some research anyway and if I did, the new RAM would cost too much and it would not be worth it.

So ethernet is legacy now? Wifi is still fucking garbage in a lot of cases, doubt we will see more adoption then we have now. Doubt we will be dropping USB A any time soon, PS/2 might disappear to a greater extent than it already has which would be a bit annoying and sad.

Higher clock speed, not high clock speed. I honestly don't expect more than another 500MHz on top of the 4GHz roof we currently have. Vega + Ryzen APUs should see them gain as will mobile and integrated platforms based on Ryzen.

Yes

Do most cases have that now? Don't think they do.

For security purposes, government uses CD's to transfer small files, so they won't be going any time soon.

SFX is a form factor and usually only bought if the case requires it. There is a reason why one does not put a mini-ITX motherboard in a full tower case. (Unless you are Paul from Paul's Hardware).

Even my brother which is just a hardcore gamer, uses 4.
One for backup, two for games.
And one for documents
While also rocking an 128GB SSD.

The sole reason custom PC's are a thing is customization, you do not need 4 HDD's? Fine.
I do, so do other people.
It feels as if building PC's becomes more like buying an OEM PC.
They all look nice, but under the hood .. most seem to go for the looks over the performance.

I build PC's because OEM's do not offer what I need, at prices I'm willing to pay.

The ryzen 7-2700 will have 2.2GHz base clock and a 3.8GHz boost clock. The ryzen 5-2500U will have a 2.0GHz base clock and a 3.6GHz boost clock. I dont see this as a "high clockspeed" launch. And since there is going to be a dGPU within the same die of intel mobile processors, this will also raise AMDs market share.

what consumers are you talking about? those people who only "consume" horribly compressed streaming stuff.

yeah. those don't need optical drives. they don't even need good headphones.

i can agree that storing documents or other data on CD/DVD ROM is outdated. but there is just no real alternative for music or movies

i have CDs, i have DVDs, i have BDs. and i need an optical drive so i can use that stuff without internet during a power outage. been there, done that

ever seen a USB stick? or a AUX cable and a phone/music player(not going to say MP3 player because FLAC and so on is generally what you get those for now)? CD drives have in my experience with them been by far the worst alternative among the ones i have had, i honestly prefer tape over them in a lot of cases just because every single CD disk i have listened to has been aweful quality. Movies we got Blueray, sure DVD is still  a thing i guess and it works pretty good but its outdated. i cant think of a single person around me that actiually uses CDs anymore, none of my friends, parents, family friends, cousins, grandparents... none use CDs. DVDs sure, i have most of my movies on DVD but i rarely watch them or use the player. the only reason i have to still own a burner is that i play NSFU2 on the Toasters old guts sometimes

in fact, you can't have most of the signed CDs and vinyl records i have as a download AT ALL

and nothing beats going to a concert and buying the CD right on the spot if you liked the band (along with talking to the band in person.)

you see ... i NEED optical drives to stay unless amazon and everyone else (including small ass bands) start including a lossless download with every physical album you purchase.

Kinect?
I do not remember that.
What I do know is that normal Home/Pro W10 spies on users more then previous versions.
There is even evidence of a keylogger (Not sure about that)

MicroSoft wants this data, it is worth a lot to them and advertisers.
If they (MS) get away with this I'm eating my keyboards keycaps, every single last one!

What about those running an older motherboard or those who do not care about USB-C?
I'd just scrap the USB-C idea.

On phones it does wonders. On the desktop it isn't usefull.
I'm wondering why they didn't just up the spec on the normal USB A connector & made it backwards compatible.
Since I ain't buying heaps of new USB flashdrives anytime soon ;)

The Compact Disc disc is already gone. The driver CDds are only a thing for people that would bitch if they were not there, mainly no internet access. No one needs a Compact Disc disc drive to do 99.95% of shit. Even windows is easier to install on a USB. Even games on disc for PC are now just steam codes on a disc. Or in COD WW2's case a paper insert where the disc goes with a code.

What the fuck even is this list/10

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch
