  1. Thanks for the insight, it would only be at pcie 2 speeds for a month or so as it'll be going on a 12th gen motherboard in November so I'll live with the low speeds for that time. I'm going to go for it and absolute worse case I'll just keep it in its box for a month or so
  2. Thanks for the reply, I guess absolute worst case if it does not fit, I just won't use it until I get the new board. Thanks!
  3. I am going to upgrade to Intel 12th gen when it comes out but I also want to upgrade my storage. I am looking at the MP600 SSD's from Corsair but my current motherboard (z97) Only supports PCIe Gen 2 x2 for the m.2 slot. Would I still be able to use the newer drive on my old board in the meantime before I upgrade? Would it fit in the older slot?
  4. Thanks for the info! I was worried having both the OS and a bunch of large games would impact performance but seems it should be fine!
  5. I am looking to upgrade my storage (currently have 2 SATA ssd's and one 2tb HDD) and I want to get a 2tb nvme SSD for games. As it would be faster than my SATA drives I want to make it my boot drive too. Is it a bad idea to make that SSD a boot and game drive or should I stick to a smaller SSD to boot from and keep games seperate?
  6. I want to re-paste my GTX 1080, would I need to replace the thermal pads too or can they be reused? Secondly, I have a ~4 year old tube of MX-4 Thermal compound, would that still be useable or should I get a new tube?
  7. I decided to take out my GPU's as it had been about four years since I installed them and I wanted to see if I needed to clean out the heatsinks. After I reinstalled them, Forza Horizon 4 had varying fps from 50-20 where I used to average 80fps beforehand and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was running at 20 instead of 50+ Forza's GPU usage is lower than normal as it used to be a constant 99-100% but now it dips as low as 80% and Flight Sim has very low CPU usage but normal GPU usage. I've reinstalled and rolled back drivers but that has made no difference and power setti
  8. I have seen people say that with the new 3000 series GPUs that instead of using one cable from the PSU which splits into two 8 pins you should have two seperate cables coming out from the PSU, would this apply to my two 1080s in sli? I have one cable which has two 8 pin connectors so basically one cable to power both GPUs. Is it worth adding a second cable so each GPU has its own power line or will I not see any performance gains?
  9. I am looking to upgrade my laptop to one under £2000. Ideally I want per key RGB but other than the expensive (and apparently faulty) Rader Blade 15 I am unsure where to look. Coming from a slow 4th gen i5 a newer i7 (or i5 as long as it is significantly faster than the previous one) would be nice as well. What brands should I look at? Thanks in advance!
  10. Still trying to get over the fact that Lego cancelled the one set I was genuinely excited for...

  11. When the lense moves on my Nikon Coolpix P900 (Turning on/off and zooming) and it has not been near any sand not has it had any impacts. I am waiting to hear back from Nikon but I wondered if there is anything worth trying in the meantime Also sorry for the poor quality video, I compressed it to sent to Nikon support and it is rather poor quality now but the sound is still there P900.mp4
  12. I have not been paying much attention to hardware releases for a couple years now and I am considering upgrading my CPU. I considered an i7 9900k but I found the Ryzen 9 3900x which has 12 cores and is only £20 more than the i7 at this time. 12 cores at 4.9ghz boost seems insane coming from a quad core CPU 4th gen i7. Is the Ryzen 9 a good option?
  13. Does it show up in Disk Management? You may need to format it to make it show up under "This PC"
  14. Yeah I found that out the hard way, I cut the red wire and my phone didn't detect anything...
