why the hell dont they just release the software for free download... do a linux and make the software that everyone likes to use free and awesome and not a tablet/ mobile OS

Windwos 8 nice with a couple of mods. i bought windows 7 the first day and i think i need a fresh enviroment plus a clean install is always fun.

Because it would create security risk. A lot of system compromised runs on XP.

If it's free, Microsoft can't provide support... as they make no money, so can't pay people to fix things.

It was pointless to sell 7 and 8 simultaneously.

i use it for software support, if the software i use for work was compatible on Linux i would be sat using Fedora right now.

And yes I agree windows in necessary atm unfortunately.
