one card is usually more recommended due to sli scaling issues

Since you already have a 1070, I would say get a second one. Two 1070's are much faster than a 1080ti. But keep in mind that some games don't like sli. Would be a good idea to look the games up you play to figure out how well they scale.

If you find any grammar or spelling errors please fill out entry permit A38, thanks.

i would get one good card, unless every game you play scales with sli.

PSU and motherboard name, please.

And also, please give a list of the games you play, so I can check they all scale with SLI.

Hope this helped :D

If you really really want 4k right now I'd get a 1080ti.

It's performs ok enough at 4k with most games at the moment.

Ones games become more demanding either stick in a second 1080ti or get whatever is current by then.

Personally I wouldn't go for it now maybe a good 1440p screen and stick to the 1070.

Alright, thanks!

I'll do a bit of research and I'll be back with results soon.

Sell it, and get a 1080 ti ;)

Multi-GPU with midrange Cards or in general weaker cards was a bad idea 10 years ago, and it's still a bad idea ^^

Single GPU > Multi GPU all the way.

HoI4 doesn't seem to scale with SLI, though I don't own it so I can't confirm if it's a simple bottleneck or if the SLI compatibility string needs to be changed. War Thunder is said to scale with SLI, but some people have reported flickering. BF1 scales with SLI in DX11 mode, and both GTA V and Overwatch love multiple GPUs.

Recommendations on this one can go either way. It honestly comes down to what your expectations are and what limitations you're willing to accept. SLI has the potential to be less consistent, though this varies from person to person since not everyone plays the same thing. But at the same time, in this situation, SLI would be more cost effective since you're already halfway there.

If you're ok with a few occasional games not working with SLI, and ok with tweaking your drivers, then SLI 1070 is a financially smarter idea, especially if money is tight. They perform as good as, if not slightly better at times, than a 1080Ti. But if you want guaranteed consistent performance, money isn't much of an issue, and don't want to occasionally tweak drivers, then the 1080Ti is a surefire bet.

If you're running a 4k panel you could do like the PS4 Pro does and render at 1800p in Battlefield 1. Run the game at 4k and set the resolution scale to 83%. Your 1070 should then be able to get 60 fps according to this Digital Foundry video:

I could swear Paul's Hardware did a video showing the GTX 1070 running GTA V pretty well at 4k by turning a few settings down also, but I can't seem to find it right now.

i will suggest selling the GTX 1070 for a 1080Ti

SLi GTX1070 will not scale well

and not all games support SLI

A 1070 will work fine with FXAA and a little render scaling. I use my 980ti at 4K no problem like this.

I'd just sell and get the 1080ti. ALWAYS one single GPU over an SLI/Crossfire setup. Besides, the 1080ti is about 40% more powerful then the 1070, you're not gonna get much more out of having 2 of them anyways. Plus you'll consume more power and miss out on half the titles.

Ryzen 7 2700x, MSI Gaming X RX 480 8gb, Asus ROG X470 Gaming, 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000, 120gb Kingston SSD (Boot) + 1TB Seagate Barracuda.
