Not possible they said - Meshify C, 1080TI Strix, front mounted 360 radiator!

Hey LTT!

No ''real'' build log this time but i thought i'd share the build regardless.

the Meshify C case from fractal is very compact in terms of fitting a big GPU + a radiator in the front, that didn't stop me from trying tho!

The Asus Strix shroud was removed and replaced by 2x Noctua NF-F12's, this was needed to fit the GPU in with a front mounted 360mm radiator.

The case support ''175mm'' long PSU's but i can confirm a 180mm will work fine as long you remove the HDD cage. any longer PSU's than 180mm will not fit even with the HDD cage removed! (unless you mod the case i guess)

With the HDD cage removed, the HUE+ unit for the LED's fit perfectly in the bottom of the case.

(Currently i'm using one of the earlier Cablemod sets for this PSU, i have them for a while now and they will be replaced by Cablemod Pro series in the next couple weeks.)

Mmmmhh, baby!

That's TIGHT!

I do like the approach of using those fans.

And don't take this the wrong way, but those PCI-E cables are triggering my OCD a lot. You just need 2 or 3 Combs.

Thats a really tight fit.

I wonder what are the GPU temperatures.

Yeah there is no room left haha!

i will run some tests later on, the reason i don't want to now is because it's around 35C here right now and don't feel like doing anything haha

but i can tell you rn i did test the Strix cooler vs the noctua fans on a open bench and i saw a 10C drop going to the 2x noctua fans. (22C ambient room)

i'm right with you on the cables! that's why i said in the original post they will be replaced by the Cablemod Pro series, and yes they will have cable combs!

The cooler on the CPU is the Fractal Celsius S36

The GPU is the Stock heatsink with the shroud removed and fans replaced.

Could've just ran a custom loop with cpu and gpu, as the waterblock slims up the gpu a lot. And here I was thinking my build was a tight fit lol

Nice.  Pulled the STRIX armor off and replaced the fans.  That is quite the tight fit but you made it work.

Welcome to the Fractal C-Club :)

Are you using the fan headers on the strix card? or did you get some adapter to go into the traditional fan-header on the PCB itself?

most cases are taller or same height then the meshify c, the meshify c looks tall because it is a shorter case.

if you want a bigger version of this case look into the fractal design meshify S2.

Thank you.

A side note would that case -the S2 be capable of putting 3 200 mm fans in the front?

Going for a full on air turbine level wind storm build -at least that is the plan.

Do you regulate the fans manually?

Do you set then to a specific speed and leave them?

i couldn't tell you because i have changed my setup but on fractals site it says:'' GPU max length 315 mm with front fan mounted '' so that's 315mm - 38 = 277mm length GPU, but fractal calculates this with the Front fans mounted on the inside but you can mount the fans on the outside as well and that would save you 25mm but you will have to cut the front dust filter web to make it work, if you're willing to do that you can fit a GPU with a length of 302mm. here is a link to a video that shows the cutting part of the dust filter: https://youtu.be/O_DXoIhMdj0?t=348

hopefully this helps you out

yes thank you. so my old 280mm gtx 970 wont fit unless i destroy the filter.... i guess air flow is also optimized when the fans are mounted outside. i might actually do that.

Thank you and sorry for the late response.

Yes you can have hdd's but the biggest thing you have to keep in mind is the length of the PSU, if your PSU is to long the cables that come out of the PSU will come to close to the HDD cage and then it will either not fit or be super tied fit.

As for the top exhaust, i know 100% sure you can fit 1 top exhaust fan but i'm unsure of 2 top exhaust fans (this might depend on the AIO you're going with), i'm currently not running the setup from this forum post so i can't check for you.

hope this helped!

(EDIT: i just checked out some builds and 2 exhaust fans seem to work fine with a front mounted 360 rad.)
