How do people use more than a terabyte

Lol, I guess I'm a scrub. 1 250gb SSD is all I have and let me tell you, it fills up slowly but when it's full, it's FULL.  Can't wait until I have a case that supports 3.5 HDDs

I have a 500GB SSD.

 

Windows and all of my programs (CAD, PS, DaVinci, Office, etc.) takes up a couple hundred GBs.

 

I have the following games installed currently:

 

Forza Horizon 3

BF4

BF1

Star Wars: Battlefront

Killing Floor 2

DiRT Rally

 

SSD has 40GB of space left. My math isn't far off. And that wasn't even the point, the point is that you can easily fill 1TB of storage.

I have 4 x 4TB drives + 1 x 1TB SSD + 4 x 6GB Archive drives ..  and running out of space

 

I have like 40 games on steam, origin etc plus I do 3d rendering and simulation.

Photography and cinematography takes a ton. Some people have massive media libraries for some reason. 

I personally use a lot because apparently no one else in my family values the preservation of old digital data... Ughh

I don't even have a terabyte of storage in my main PC. I use a separate Mac mini with 500GB for media storage (pictures and music). Main system is a 120GB SSD for OS and shit I use a lot and a 500GB for games. If I don't plan on playing a game for a while I uninstall it, makes it pretty easy to live without terabytes of storage.

It's not hard. Videos, music, photo back up, etc etc all adds up. I have a 2TB external I'll be expanding to a 4TB external in RAID1. Then the games and programs will be on a 1TB SSD.

Backups for Steam/Origin/Other Type Installers in my single 3TB are taking about 900GB alone...

Documentaries and such I've downloaded, that's taking 1.1TB, plus Music and Various App installers I've saved/bought..

 

Does not take long...

Start collecting Music, Movies, TV Shows, and Family photos and you'll quickly surpass a 3TB drive in no time. Gotta store all those Linux ISOs for seeding back to the community somewhere.

Hmm, for me, mostly anime and visual novels take up my space. A fair bit goes to my music collection and my family photos as well. I also hoard graphic artist resources (Thanks, Design Cuts), and it does eat up space pretty fast.

 

Apparently I just checked and I have 10TB of anime alone...Granted though, Crunchyroll streaming as gotten really good. I still like to buy blu rays though for shows I like. About 1TB is for family photos.

 

I also changed to shooting photos in RAW, and space is really going fast for my family photos.

 

I'm about to start 3D modeling / rendering as a hobby and I can see the space going fast.

 

I have 15 4TB (60 TB total) drives, 9 in RAID6 (WD Re SAS), and the other 6 in RAID6 (WD Reds). The reds are kind of my backup for my actual important stuff (I can always rerip my blurays, family photos and my work, not so much). Also have 3TB of that WD Red array is dedicated to shadow copies.

 

Currently sitting at 5.78TB free of 25.4 TB on the WD Re array.

OS drive is a 1TB SSD and storage pool has 7 4TB drives for data plus two 4 TB parity drives. Working for a storage company is neat, can buy drives for cheap.
