And BIOS was so basic that the only recurring problem you had was rootkits.

I don't think the Creators Update would fix the issues of Windows 10. Tbh I still think Windows 8.1 is more stable and responsive than Windows 10.

And the odd virus that targeted Intel motherboards (I have to be careful with what my Celeron 450A's motherboard-its one of the susceptible ones and the old malware still crops up occasionally).

I had 3 failed upgrades. My PC and 2 laptops. It was a nightmare since no one had drivers yet

I find it amusing that Windows 10 sometimes fail to install. Microsoft has a long history with building operating systems; not to mention, their latest version is supposed to be the most user friendly one yet. What about that time when a Windows "update" bricked a bunch of systems? Very user friendly indeed.

Sure sue them then let the party who is suing them take over the programming department and let them develop updates and upgrades for literally millions of different devices and possible configurations. Then once these idiots fail miserably then can pay back microsoft for the time spent dealing with this bullshit.

 

Like I get it. Id be pissed if I lost data to. However, updates and upgrades failing is not a new thing and will always be a thing for Microsoft. Especially upgrading to a such a different OS internally.

 

There is too much fucking hardware out there to possibly test for before pushing out an upgrade or update. Too much fucking software that might causing an issue with the upgrade process or could of possibly caused a corruption in the OS files which is not even related to the OS's fault.

 

This issue applies to Linux and Android as well as it runs into the same problem as it has to support so many fucking devices.

I had issues rolling out win10 in 8/8.1 PCs with the media center package. Some took the upgrade after finagling, others would always fail at 25%.

Win7 a number of upgrades succeeded but explorer would constantly crash and rendered the pc unusable. 

 

Fresh win10 install would have issues if the build happen to be too old for nvidia drivers, which a number of computers in the rollout had for 3 screen setups.

Honestly I saw this coming when they decided to just force every machine over to it. I don't mind Windows 10 by itself, sure it has some issues. But it isn't broken as all balls. Never the less, with so many PCs changing and to not think it will cause an issue...not even considering ppl being confused about how their computer changed and stuff like that, but simply just the odds of something breaking during an update. They could have covered their tracks better, but I guess they really wanted to shift everyone onto 10 so that they no longer need to really support the other OS versions. And other reasons that are beyond my understanding I'm sure.

I hope they can expand it to include Canada. I had to format and reinstall Windows 7 after I discovered my PC had installed Windows 10 (I had WU set to do not automatically download updates / do not automatically install updates), and the Windows 10 installation was buggy.

 

Microsoft is also ripe for a class-action lawsuit concerning the data they are collecting in Windows 10.

I did clean install and never had a single issue though.

But I do wonder now, how worth it is to MS to keep the current update/upgrade style with all complaints, cause apparently it doesn't seem to bother them too much. I get they want as many people on the same version of Windows not W10 just but version update of it.

I've never had an issue with Windows 10, even running it on my PC built with Windows XP on it, or my PC with or 7 or 8, no issues.

 

Then again, I had no issues with Vista on my XP machine either, both of them. I always fresh install and it works.

It was like that for me with Windows ME. I had it working far better than pretty much everyone-especially since system restore was able to save my ass multiple times, while still being able to simply copy a backup of it straight from a CD to the C drive.

No, it doesn't. You missed the point of the lawsuit. While every OS or driver update can potentially break your system, what is specific about the Win 10 "upgrades" in this class action is that they happened inadvertently, without user action, knowledge, or consent. Downloading a driver, hitting "next, next, next" and breaking your system will surely lead to a lot of complaints, but it is definitely not the same as arriving one day to your store to find out your OS replaced itself with a new one, which doesn't work. No, it is not something Linux users face as well.

So yes, every system update poses some risk when dealing with millions of different hardware+software configurations, but what is specific about this case is that users were deprived of the freedom to choose if and when to run that risk.

Glad it's not just me! lol I installed Vista Ultimate on my Sony Vaio that came with XP Media Center Edition, ran just fine.
