Nvidia cutting prices of GTX 780 and 770

Good news for us consumers. Bad news for AMD. If the GTX 780 and 290X costs the same then I don't really see any reason to recommend the 290X.

Well this only makes sense, hopefully AMD can improve their drivers enough, along with mantle to outperform the 780. Then that would really be interesting.

and then throw on top revised drivers....then we will see what's the best choice....

It dropped about 200$ in price in Sweden, from 5690 SWE KR to 4390 SWE KR at Inet ( 6.34 Swe KR = 1 US $ )

Actually you're wrong. Overclocking both, 780 could reach higher than the 290x, the 290x has much higher base temps, which means the reachable clock speeds are potentially lower. & to top this off, nvidia will be releasing 800 series in less then 6 months. So.. yeah.

Don't hold your breath about Mantle. It may not be as revolutionary as AMD is claiming. And even if it allows GCN to perform much better than without Mantle, how many developers would actually switch over to it after developing on say DirectX or OpenGL for a while?
