Screw The Razer Core, Run ANY Desktop GFX Card On ANY Laptop For Less Than 20$??? Sure!

iamdarkyoshi

Kinda. And with lots of luck and duct tape. To do this, go buy one of these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/391447764147

And get yourself a laptop (I used a CQ-57, with a 1ghz AMD C-50)

And a graphics card, I used an r7 250

And a power supply. This is because the laptop can't supply 12v on its own

And optionally a 1x riser cable.

First, remove your wifi card, or use a secondary mini pcie slot (some laptops have more for cell radios)

Then install the adapter.

Plug in your PSU with the green and black wires connected, but leave it unplugged from the mains, and connect it to the adapter.

Install your graphics card into the adapter, and switch on the PSU at the same time as the laptop, using the riser cable if needed. With luck, the contraption should post.

Now plug in an external display, and install graphics drivers. Then run some benchmarks. With luck, you should have everything working.

Don't believe me?

Yes, it is in fact bottlenecked as hell. You should have been able to guess that.

Let the portable gaming rigs commence!

Alienware did something similar but it's much better because Dell is a gaming reference

So true it hurts

Well thats one of way to do that. But there is a " better way" that works way more better if you got an extra mPCI or Expresscard slot.

Expresscard slots are basically 1x PCI slots. As seen in this video, you can manage to hook up one if you got the expresscard and of course a thingy

It works a hella lot better

Nope. Most GPU's are actually quite powerful even with 1x PCIE.
