it seems odd that others could get something onto or close to on the market already yet apple (who didn't have to develop the product based rumours there would be a lack of a head phone jack)

so why the stumble? not fully sorted, and somewhat faulty but looking great hasn't stopped them releasing in the past, so that can't be it, there would be some major use issue, and the most likely would be either syncing issues, or the battery will die within some stupid short time like with-in an hour (and those 18hours of use they quote I think are the earbuds case charging them on the go)

Tell that to literally every other truly wireless earbud manufacturer who are all charging $200 (except for one that's $150). Plus according to Apple they received a lot of interest in them.

The true wireless at that price isn't the problem. The problem is that they look exactly like the Earpods, the headphones that come free in the box with an iPhone, and is pretty notorious for falling out of a lot of people's ears. It's the perceived quality at such a high price that's most off-putting about the Airpods imo.

Not everyone has an issue with Apple's ear pods (a lot of people still use them happily). Those are the people who Air Pods target. No one is forcing the people who don't like earpods to buy airpods.

I'm one of those happy users.  The sound quality is pretty good for something included free with the phone.  They are night and day better than the older ear buds.  I use them at the office and they're cheap enough that no one is going to steal them out of my desk at night.

 

I don't see wireless headphones/air pods catching on for a while.  Lets face it, who needs yet another device to charge on a daily basis?  My 6s is going to stick around indefinitely.

I hope we find out later that there was some dispute concerning patents and Apple pulled off something that we'd only think possible in Steve Job's time... Complete cancellation of a product... just to spite the claimants of a lawsuit.

Based on some reviews I've seen there has been the occassional hardware/software bug, so that would be me guess as to why they're delayed.

The problem is that they look exactly like the Earpods, the headphones that come free in the box with an iPhone, and is pretty notorious for falling out of a lot of people's ears. It's the perceived quality at such a high price that's most off-putting about the Airpods imo.

I cannot wear normal earbuds, mainly because they fall out of my ear and my ears are super sensitive.

The EarPods I actually really like. They feel nice in my ear, and they have surprisingly responsive bass.

That's exactly my thoughts when I see ppl walking around on the STREET wearing over ear audiophile headphones. Doesn't matter what brand they are, they're all the same as ppl wearing Beats.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. The earpods get uncomfortable for me after 20 minutes or so. The bass responsive is impressive though, even if it's not really to my tastes.
