I used it for other things. Hell, my current Windows 8.1 install (with all of my apps and crap, with about 3GB of music alone) is about 60GB... I don't know how I lived with the 15+40GB HDD's in my first real "internet-ized" computer.

EDIT: And I still don't have everything installed, so that number will climb to at least 65GB by the end of this week.

I have a ton of apps and programs. I did a full install of Office 2013 Professional Plus, which ate up close to 4GB itself I think... But, we better shut up before we derail this thread too far. :P

I'm pretty sure that heat dissipation was an issue on the slot form factors later on, there's only so big of a heat sink you can put on the things.

I'm also pretty sure that the Celeron 300a was the first P6 based CPUs that put the L2 cache on die. Makes me wonder why Katmai and Coppermine didn't go back to a socket.

Old shit no one cares about but me.

Katmai and Coppermine were on both slot and socket.

I just looked it up, I'm suprised that Coppermine was on socket, I've never seen one out of all the pentium 3s flooding out of peoples' houses lol.

Katmai wasn't on socket though.

Sorry you are correct - the Katmai was not - the coppermine was the only one that was on both - during the transition from slot to socket.

Mine was an old Compaq that was older than me. I don't remember much about it as we got rid of it when I was 5 (it was the former family computer that was put in the basement) except that it ran Windows 95, was VERY beige and its monitor broke, resulting in the colors to be screwed up. The first computer that was definitely mine was an Asus Eeebook netbook thing that I got for my 11th birthday. After that came another Compaq (this time a laptop) which happens to be sitting in pieces in my room.

Pics of the Compaq laptop:

DU177DK.jpgBest part about it is its socketed AMD sempron. When I first discovered this, I was astounded and amazed.^

First Computer I used that my dad owned was a Tandy 5000 mc, I played a jetfighter game, test drive, and manhunt. This brought me into the world of pc gaming! I only ever had consoles for nintendo titles as i was growing up. I was just a little kid using MS Dos and Tandy DeskMate. After that my own computer that was mine wasnt until high school and it was a Compaq Presario 5000. I upgraded the graphics to a Nvidia TNT2 when I purchased Operation Flashpoint and couldnt run it with out the upgrade. That was my true first computer.

First Personal computer was a 2009  Lenovo   3t s10   with an Atom and 1GB of RAM

Lenovo-IdeaPad-S10-3t.jpg

It was horrible. It lagged running Pokemon in an emulator and was so slow that if you tried to rotate the screen or use the touch functionality it practically died.

It was so bad I gladly accepted the Mac I was offered ._.

OSX sucks -.-

You need to understand that as a kid, this was the greatest thing science had ever managed in my mind. I thought it was THE coolest thing ever.

Now that I think about it, I haven't even had a desktop till this January.

I have yet to "own" a PC. 15 years old and I have never had a computer to my name :( always using other peoples.

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

Only Abate, Axe, and Wobbles can save us.

My first personal pooter was this HP 2000. Kinda runs like butt now that it's a couple years old, but considering the life span of most laptops I suppose i can't complain about it too much.
