The difference between the two is minimal already, why would they put something inbetween I dont understand.

 

Well, they did the same exact thing with the 600 series cards.

Unless its cheaper than the 290X I don't get it.  Is it basically a titan with less memory? Or is it a 780 with the letters "TI" added onto the end?

Make or break - the price.

Personally, this product makes 0 sense at all -_-  The performance difference between a 780 and a Titan is already extremely marginal, by releasing this product right in the middle it basically means no price drops for the Titan.

780ti is the TITAN ULTRA D:

Probably just a way for nVidia to drop the price of the GTX Titan, without actually dropping the price for the GTX Titan itself.

Is the 290x 600 bucks or did I miss something?

It's listed for 550$ in some retailers..others show above 600, some 700

 

It's gotta be cheaper to justify it over the 290x

The 290x will beat the titan(rumors) and it's cheaper that the 780

And even if the 290x will perform the same way as the 780ti, it will be at least $50 cheaper
