What your phone OS choice says about you....

Before I begin, I'm sorry this is so late .

 

I have no excuse for the gap between the initial survey (Kudos to everybody who took part) and the results.

 

Sample size was an issue  for both responses from people who use IOS and Windows 10 Mobile........

 

So the results may not be 100% representative of all users.

 

Device Usage

This was to see whether or not the type of device influences how often a user would use their mobile device. Respondents had to choose what type of phone they had,

 

 

 

 

What you use your phone for

This was to see how the type of phone used would affect how the user uses their phone. Respondents had to choose the primary/main use for their phone.

 

 

 

 

What people want from a phone

This was to see what users from different phone platforms wanted from a phone. Respondents had to choose their primary/main choice.

 

 

 

 

Extra information

 

Respondents had to place "PC" and "Phone" into the sentence to make sense.

 

Respondents had to choose their most important device from a list of devices.

 

Respondents had to choose their least important devices from a list of devices.

 

 

Other results

Overall Windows 10 Mobile users seemed more content with what they want their phone to do and that it serves their purpose while loving the OS they use. Android users seemed somewhat content with what their phone does and that it serves their purpose however they more eager to say how it didn't fully do what they wanted. They also seemed to either love, dislike or not care about the Android OS. The single IOS user seemed to indicate that they liked IOS and was mostly happy with what their phone does and how it serves its purpose.

Yep, Windows Phone: 0% entertainment.

 

Because there are zero fucking apps. I need to get an Android.

That was primarily because of 2 reasons actually. 1) Only 3 people with Windows Phones entered a response to the survey.

2) Entertainment is usually not their main priority.

Windows Phones are getting better with Apps. I've seen a dramatic attitude change since I started using them over a year ago. App developers are more open to Windows Phones than they were and it is now considered more important than it used to be. More companies are making apps for Windows Phones.

I don't think I've seen the original survey for this... But really, the sample size is way too small, Windows and iOS have little to no representation in this.

 

I also don't really understand the first question, "secondary or infrequently used", what does this mean? In relation to your desktop/laptop PCs? Because to me, that sound like "secondary phone" or "I don't really use this", it's missing the "primary device" option too.

 

You need a bigger sample size than just 17 people, try to keep your survey thread alive longer, get as many people as possible respond to it, post it on other forums as well.

 

 

As for the 0% entertainment Windows phone... I play on a GBA emulator on mine all the time. That's essentially the main use I have for it other than calling/checking the news and weather.

most of the games on android are a on windows phone problem is 99% of all mobiles suck.

Secondary phone meaning not their primary device. They use another device more than their Phone.

 

Infrequent means that they use their phone infrequently.....

I can post the Survey Link again and try to have more people complete it......

 

I know 17 people isn't a good sample size. I would've been happier with 170. But I just couldn't get that many to answer the survey.

I think the iOS result should be omitted. It's misleading, not representative of widespread use and just of one person.

There are many people who use their phone and computer as mutually exclusive devices.

Being able to transfer files is a mere convenience.

 

There are even people who rely completely on their phone if they don't need to work on a personal computer.

So for a large chunk of society, it would have been "My phone is an extension of my life and reason to live"

Then you should have sat on the data until you could get a meaningful number of respondents.  Publishing your 'poll results' when you have no ability to give a meaningful result is an enormous waste of time.  I read your first post and was very confused by the charts, it wasn't until near the bottom that the reason your post was so non-sensual was because you were using a useless dataset.

You should allow multiple choice answer, especially for "My phone's purpose is........ * ", I don't only do 1 thing with it and on average, I spend more or less the same amount of time on many things. Be it entertainment, communication or news feed.
