NASA Trains Astronauts Using Consumer Grade VR and "Nvidia GPU Technology"

NASA uses NVIDIA GPU technology, combined with Unreal Engine 4, consumer-grade VR, physical mockups and models, wearable technologies, and room scale tracking to create what the U.S. space agency calls a “Hybrid Reality System” that will provide an extremely immersive and realistic training capability at a lower cost than traditional “analog” field tests.

The next step is to create a sense of weightlessness. 

 

To do this, NASA needs to visualize training scenarios in real-time with photorealistic graphics, accurate physics, and “multiplayer” capability

This is where NVIDIA’s GPU technologies — such as VRWorks — combined with game engines like Unreal Engine 4 come into play. Key technologies like VR SLI and Multi Res Shading afford extremely high levels of performance, visual quality and interaction

Well, i dont see how its bad :p. Besides, its probably the highest of highest end from Nvidia, which is pretty much the only real gpu maker (dont shoot at me with AMD!) and consumer VR, well pretty expensive VR nevertheless.

Yeah nvidia hasn't released any newer low end cards they really do need a replacement for cards like the 750ti which is over two years old now, but if what happens with the 480, and 470 happens to the 460 then it will be a $200 card that is out of stock everywhere.
