RX 480 review is OUT!

Megazero

First to the party: TechOfTomorrow

Summary: THIS IS BS! It perform UNDER A 970 EXOC AND R9 290X IN ALL GAME THAT RUN DX11, and BARELY manage to beat the 970 and close to a 980 on anything that run DX12 or require more RAM (like 1440p Shadow of Mordor).

AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, a 1.5% overclock? that shot the temp from 83 to 91 degree Celsius? GOD DAMN IT AMD! You have like the perfect chance to get the market back from Nvidia and dont let Nvidia hold the monopoly on the GPU market anymore and you FUCKING BLEW IT! I'm a Nvidia fan and I'm mad about this!

^this. Well, at least the 290X part. There was no 970 in the review nevermind, I'm blind

Man, that's just a shame :/ I was expecting (much) more.

EDIT: well at least the RX 480 brings 4GB to the mid end as a start (rather than having a 2GB and 4GB card, there is now a 4GB and 8GB card)

Is it just me or was the performance all over the place? In one test it was next to a 980 and in the next under a 970.

I hope it is just the driver isn't quite there yet. Later driver will perform better and more consistent.

Shadow of Mordor 1440p (not 1080p), Arkham Knight, Division 1440p (not 1080p), Hitman(DX12), TomRaider(DX12, barely) and Just Cause 3 , most of them are either DX12 or because the 3.5GB RAM on the 970 so... and even on DX12 RX 480 dont beat the 970 by much =.=

I'll reserve judgement for now. This certainly does not bode well but I also find it a bit odd. Let's see what other reviewers think as well.

its Elrich. The least serious benchmarker on the planet.

I bet his comment section is a fucking pit of fire as the guy will instantly go full retard on people saying his results are inconsistent.

derp, didn't see it properly.. My eyes just went over it, because it was below the 980 I thought it would be a 980 Ti (because I though that would be logical)

Hmm... I think because some of his benchmark is on DX12? On those games the 480 do perform close to a 980 and slightly manage to beat the 970

Unlikely - Maxwell's A-sync performance is utter tosh. I want to see his settings in Crimson as well.

That's not really a review, at least not like Linus is doing it, explaining how he tested it and drawing conclusions by giving us all the informations.

Besides that's a 970 EXOC, not a stock 970.

We'll see other reviews to judge, since silicon lottery has been touching Nvidia as well with some bad overclocking possibilities on some cards.

EXOC 970 is like 3-4 fps higher than stock, and it's pretty valid giving that most 970 now is AIB anyway.

And I highly doubt any silicon lottery can be as bad as 1.5% OCing...

Oh it can. There was a 970 which failed stock clocks.
