All those games are rated M for a reason, right?

Kids shouldn't be allowed to play any game that's a movie or tv show tie in.

 

Actually, no one should be allowed to play them.  Ever.  Ban them.

i think that the rating system is obsolete because if a kid may not play GTA V for example he can just go and watch a YouTube video of the game.

I feel the ESRB guide lines are pretty spot on. If parents would actually follow it that would solve most of the issues. Most parents have no balls, they can tell their child no. More retailers need to ask for ID and or bday to verify age.

It won't change anything.

Here is what I think - you can not really *stop* PC gamer kids from playing these games. You will mot buy them the games? That won't do - because torrents are always there! Kids are not so dumb as you parents may think. I was, what, 12 years old when Call of Duty 4 came out, rushed in and downloaded it immediately from torrent.

Same thing as a friend of mine that is 14 years old, he is loving GTA V! I showed him how to crack it, and no matter how many times did his father shouted "Stop killing people!!!!!" or "Stop playing this game!!!!" while i was chatting with him on skype, he just ignored him and ket shooting this shotgun :D

You really have to have a good control over your kid in order for things to work, as in watch what they are doing.

However, in the end of the day, EVEN IF you let your kid play violent video games not meant for them, there is 0.00000001% for your kid to do the things they did in the game, unless they were below 10years old...well a friend of mine, well, his brother was about to stab the puppy dog with a knife after watching his older brother, my friend, knifing a dog in Black Ops 2. Yeah, they had to even hide the PS4 away and buy him some nintendo...his brother was really mad. This is not the case with my sister, 15 year old. She loves the Tomb Raider games. She only gets a little violent when playing League of Legends, but really nothing special. She played GTA San Andreas when it came it. It was funnyyyyy waching her laugh like some witch when she blows a car and shoots a guy on the street in the head...oh well we had fun times...now - MMOs looks like are the only games that interest me and her, simply cuz everything else just gets boring real quick...

To wrap things up, i dont think any game, even if not meant for kid, is a problem to be allowed to be played. I have no evidense of any teenager killing his parents cuz of getting killed in any violent video game, you are welcome to show me however. When i have my kids in the future, i WILL allow them to play ANY game they wish ONLY on PC! Yes - the only thing I will not allow them is to play on console - I want them to be PC gamers, if not go into VR gaming and later on move on to being PC enthusiasts.

Yeah but last I heard. Cracking games is becoming much harder to do. Also, if you dont allow your kids to have their own computer, and put the computer in a heavy traffic area then that solves most issues. Plus most kids are not going to have access to a gaming PC. Consoles are cheaper and easy for the parents. And no, you wont be able to prevent it 100%, there is not 100%, hell kids could have access to rated R movies too. Or they can get the violence from the 6pm news. The violence is in every day life.

I don't see anything in the Witcher 3 that is bad for kids. Blood and Gore for me are actually POSITIVE things for kids to watch.

Hmm heavy traffic area, you mean as in like in the sitting room...? Well yes that might do it, but as i said, in the end, it makes no difference. Even Console games get cracked. On the other hand, if your kid is a student, they will still need a PC. Even if you buy him a laptop, nothing stops the kid from playing counter strike for example - it's called integrated graphics. A parent will not have the time to sit and look at the history for the full week on kids' - rarely anyone would do that.

Id say just leave it to the kids - whatever they want to watch - porn, movies, video games, doesn't matter, let them watch it. In the end it makes no difference. It may kinda "spoil" them in life, but well, it's not like it would do much to them. Afterall, as I call it "Learning experience oof life".

Kids should not play any online game I play. Or there should be a time restriction implemented by Steam or any other game client to avoid squeekers and ragers (most kids cant think rationally or evaluate a situations properly so they flame).

I remember going to asda to buy gta for the 360 the day after it came out and some kind woman bought it for me (I obviously gave her the money to since the cashier refused me) anyway the moral of the story

I think kids can play whatever they want. They know it is fake and aren't going to go out and start quick scoping people.

True, I am just curious why are console gamers are so much more raging about COD than I've seen anyone raging that much on PC. It's just a game...
