Games Kids Should Not be Allowed to Play?

1 hour ago, WhiteSkyMage said:

True, I am just curious why are console gamers are so much more raging about COD than I've seen anyone raging that much on PC. It's just a game...

Yup, and no matter how much times a kid pays that prostitute in GTA V for a good ... you know what ... it won't change a thing for this kid, yes he might get more addicted to playing in the toilet for 2+ hours and couple times a day, which sure would be a waste of time that he could actually spend doing something productive, but not that big of a deal. Nobody's gonna get hurt other than his hands...probably...

You have to remember consoles are cheap and parents just get it to shut their kids up when they complain that all their friends play these games

Everything fox says is a lie.  Even true things, once said by fox, become lies.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Some age ratings are just ridiculous TBH. I remember wanting to play NFS Most Wanted for PS2, but my mom did not let me because it was rated at 12 and i was 11 or so. She just barely allowed it after me begging. I can´t remember anything violent in the game, but i think there were some "hotter" women (i didn´t care about that anyways). Each parent should decide on their own when the child is allowed to play. Well, I hope most of the parents aren´t full retards spoiling their kids all over the place.

Fanboys, on both sides, are quite embarrassing. How can one be a "fan" of a company? A companies only goal is to make a profit off you. Instead of being a smart consumer and base your purchase decision on the best price / performance you choose to dick yourself over by only considering brand X. Idiotic loss to be honest.

ok, let's say there was no YouTube back then...

Though you made a mistake there to beg for a game (id more agree to something else to beg for). I did it once too to just watch a movie, and then I realized with begging it won't work - I should just DO it. So I DID and I HAD what I wanted - cracked every single game. My grandma couldn't watch me killing people in GTA. "This kid is killing people" she was saying without getting that those are just AI :D So i was shooting there while she fed me apples :)

Did you go to the cinema by yourself or just watched it on a tape (whatever it´s called)/DVD? I would have been way too shy to do either of those. Frankly i did play GTA underage at a friends house, but kept it secret. Where did you get your cracked games from? I think we bought our first PC when i was 12 ^.^ and i was way too retarded to comprehend all the capabilites. Was just playing pinball, simulators and similar shit xD Holy fuck, we even had 1k bandwidth.

I can not remember if the Piratebay was there back then, but i found torrents around. Quite a lot of them actually...now i only use piratebay for like downloading music and movies (like the Walking dead or Game of Thrones). Games I buy on Steam, just so that I am sure that I get top quality games that have nothing hidden or broken inside the code. Nowadays I want top quality graphics and I care gameplay not to be broken so I buy them from Steam, only on sales however cuz I can get a lot of them for very cheap.

About the movie, well I actually watched most of it on tape, I can't remember its name, I am sorry.... Actually my parents rarely forbid me to watch something under age when it came about movies. The only movie that I wasn't allowed to watch I can remember was, I think, the CUBE. Why - well cuz I was SCARED - damn yeah true, I was - all my fault there, I am saying it honestly, I was scared when I watched the 1st Cube movie and the 2nd one my mom said "no, you aren't watching this". After that I think I watched it on some 3rd party website and got the worst nightmare I've ever had - I think that was really a lesson for me to learn. To be honest from that time on, I never actually wanted to see another movie like this one - sure Resident Evil was kinda OK, buuuut...

Now about games - I remember I asked my father to buy me GTA San Andreas at some point. He allowed me without even thinking about it.I played quite a lot and we had fun configuring a joy stick LOL it was so funny there. He also bought me a game which I kinda really liked - called Ghost Recon 2. Now that was a game of some goooood tactics. I was till all under aged on that one, my mom didn't actually cared to even come and see what's the game about. Yeah, my parents were quite busy, so...

I think the biggest mistake I made was to piss myself after playing one of those diablo games. I can't remember which one it was. Sheeesh I was so scared back then when I played it, i think i had a heart attack. Yes - all my fault. My father got it for me cuz I started liking and watching more horror movies. And yeah that was really embarrassing to say the truth. I told my father the game was OK just hiding the truth that I couldn't admit this game got me big time. So yeah I was free, but cuz of my foolishness ... i wished I had the brain of a 20 year old and be a man, but I was a kid so...

I feel as if the games are M rated for a reason and that should give the parents an idea of what they should and shouldn't allow their kids to play. If the parents really wanted to test the game out and assure themselves that it's okay then they should just go and look up reviews and or YouTube gameplay to see for themselves. Listening to ridiculous and obviously bias articles like this one is not the best option.

i think that the rating system is obsolete because if a kid may not play GTA V for example he can just go and watch a YouTube video of the game.

You understand that the rating system is not at fault here, it's Youtube that is the problem with their arbitrary age restriction (Youtube doesn't age restrict any videos until it has been flagged).

Bad parenting is a common thing in case of Games.

Everything with Violence should be 18+.

As long Parents dont care what their Kids do, this will not help though.

Personally as a teenager, I cant stand video games. If youth were to be on a computer, it should be to explore what it can do and to learn how to bend the pc to their will. Video games are okay and an occasion, but to obsess over what level you are and to spend your time learning new ways to beat a level is very unproductive. Get out there and change the world! Improving and building hardware, software, and people will change the world. Not playing video games.

I told you, you let them play whatever they want, do your own job. my father was even helping my sister finish off some levels of Tomb Raider.

I think video games should NOT be restricted at all by. Violence in video games is not the thing that makes kids violent... not really. The reason why there is violence at school is because there are also big problems at home with parents. If your dad and mom are fighting, it affects you.

Sexual themes in video games have 1/1billion chance to make you a pedo - in fact porn is more damaging than just a scene in a video game...

Blood and Gore, Horror - well, here is where things get a little out of hand, but it must be YOU who should be deciding if this content is for you or not. If you, as a kid can not sleep at night cuz u had a nightmare because of playing DOOM, the obviously the game is not for you yet!

Strong/Bad Language - kids swearing don't really learn this from video games. Their first source is PARENTS, then their friends, then the movies (yes, still kids watch TV!) and id say LAST would be video games.

If i am to make a game as a dev, id actually put a note inside the box that all the restrictions are absolutely false and the game will not have any affect on anybody no matter how much BLOOD, GORE, LANGUAGE, VIOLENCE and whatever the game has.

I agree that a lot of games should not be played by 12 year olds if it's rated M, there are a lot of games that make light of violence. I don't have a problem with swearing or nudity in games, at 12 years old, chances are good those kids have constant interaction with swearing in school and they probably are well aware of nrop.

As a 13 year old who is currently in school, I can confirm that this is true. Swearing left and right, and hell I swear as well sometimes. It's also no doubt that kids in my school watch sexual content or porn. I don't see why (some) parents freak out about this stuff, I've been playing violent games my entire life, and I'm not a serial killer. I've never tried to kill someone. My parents let me play these games because they know I'm mature enough. People really over exaggerate and underestimate kids my age. Yeah, there are some kids who probably got dropped on their head, and would kill someone in real life but god damn, if you're buying a game for your kid, make sure he's mature enough. It's really annoying when people say video games create serial killers.

So you are 13 and played violent Games "your whole life". You are too young to understand how sad that sound and your Parents do a very bad Job on you. They should be shamed. I guess you have unfiltered internet in your room too. Perfect Example of bad parenting.

One of my friends at school (we're both 16) plays CSGO , Just Cause 3, some horror game (I can't remember off the top of my head) and GTA V all the time, and he is the calmest, most reserved person I have seen in my school, and only gets into fights if needs be, like if someone started trying to fight him. So I agree with you there, that violence in games does not make kids violent. This is the same with multiple people in my school, they have been playing the likes of COD and Battlefield since their initial release, and they aren't violent at all

Even though he played games not made for him, doesn't mean that anything bad happened. As long as he doesn't take games for real and he knows that whatever he does in games, should not be done in real life, it is alright.

Do you think it's bad if a father helps out his 14 year old daughter to complete Tomb Raider and Raise of the Tomb Raider storylines? I think this is in fact exellent parenting. Just let the children watch/play whatever they wish. Nothing bad would happen. Buy them a Christ cross if you would like to be sure. :) i wore one too.

It's not bad parenting. My parents know that I'm mature enough that I won't go out and straight up kill a guy because I saw it in a video game. And when I said "my entire life", I wasn't really joking :/ I got GTA: Director's Cut at the age of 4. I got Halo: Reach when I was 7. You say my parents do a very bad job on me when the only information that you have on me is my previous comment. If you call this "bad parenting", you should do a bit more research, I'm lucky to have them as my parents.

Downright ignoring me because I'm a kid. Perfect logic man. You know, people who say "Shh, the grown ups are talking" are fucking stupid. Age does not at all determine intelligence. I know some 50 year olds who can be dumber than a stone. I know some 7 year olds who are smarter than Einstein.

Please don't take that seriously, they were hyperboles.
