I7-6700K Is it good?

Is a I7-6700K good for editing streaming and gaming or is there another CPU which would be better?

I7 8520k is another option but it x99 and some of motherboard is going to be expensive and it perform the same as i7 6700k in games. The six core will help with streaming/editing. It 6700k is still a strong CPU.

It's good, but for the purpose you're using it for the i7 5820K might be better (which has 2 more cores/4 more threads)
The price difference between these two CPU's (including motherboard) should be minimal

Yes it is a good CPU, but Skylake has had lots of problems, also it is not worth the extra money compared to a 4790k

Something Awesome!

I7 6700k is bad compared to the price point and that you can get a i7 5820k for the same price.

The i7 6700k will only be better in single core things. You will get the same fps in games, but you could get 2 cores more for the same price if you go with a 5820k.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

5820K is generally better and they usually cost around the same

the other option is the Xeon 1231v3 at a fraction of the cost with relatively the same performance aside from the higher clock speeds on the 6700K

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

to be honest, i'll agree with the people saying X99

i don't really see the point in the skylake platform at the minute, because a high-end skylake is the equivalent to an entry level X99.. i know what i'd rather have.. more lanes, more cores, more threads, quad channel memory, x99 bragging rights... the list goes on

i do, however, think that skylake has a place for some i5 builds and definitely new i3 builds, but at the same time, the performance bonus over haswell makes the cost of the platform, chip and memory seem.. unworthy.. especially since a sandy bridge platform can beast an HTPC setup and cost a hell of a lot less

in europe skylake generally isnt much more expensive than haswell, and the extra single threaded performance grants some benefits in specific scenarios.

Yes. It is a very good CPU.

But for your purposes, and because it has two more cores at the minimum at a lower cost, it would be more beneficial if you went with something on the X99 platform instead.

I run a 5820K in my rig. And I couldn't have made a better choice.

for me here in GB, the difference between a 4790k and a 6700k is about £120

Not sure where you're looking, to be honest with you...

Ebuyer shows a £50 difference if anything. And another £25 for the 5820K.

Don't forget that you can also order from other european countries,  which costs only a few bucks more. If I order from GB i usually only have to pay 3-4€ more.

Really depends where you live.

In germany its 120-130€. 23€ more for the 5820k, and 100€ more for the Motherboard.

6700k is down to 369€ here, while it costs like 410-420+ in US?

In THIS Case: Yes, the 6700k is good and a complete solid choice (even more, if you can't utilize the 2 additional Cores enough to justify 130€ difference, like basic Gaming).

But in US the difference should be much less overall?

For just gaming, the 6700k is a waste of money compared to the 6600k.

If by 'editing' and 'streaming' you mean just the usual stuff (Sony Vegas, Open Broadcaster) the i5 will be enough.

I'd only consider a hyperthreaded chip for CAD and 3D rendering.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.
