In regards to VR.

I was seriously thinking about getting a Rift, but...

With its final price tag, the ,imo, lacklustre display specs, not to mention competition from other upcoming VR sets, I think ill be waiting on version 2.0.

The system requirement are not necessarily a big deal to me as I already have savings set aside for an unrelated build that's gunna cost way more than it should for the CPU and Dual GPU power inside it, due to a crazy custom chilled water loop and custom sealed 'chillbox like' enclosure whilst still looking like a badass 'normal' water cooled system.

What has disappointed me the most is the resolution on the Rift. I have not seen it in person ill make that clear, BUT with comments I have seen around, like Linus saying it isn't at the stage where u could use it as a virtual monitor space for productivity, which I read as, using it to read and write. This tells me that the resolution isn't high enough to read fine text in VR, that's not acceptable to me at any price range.

The money I was thinking of using for the Rift will instead go into a 42"-50" 21:9 2160p OLED display ..if one comes out prior to Rift 2.0, judging by the unchanging size range of OLED displays at this years CES, that's likely at minimum 1year away, more likely 2years+, which is EXTREMELY disappointing.

In regards to the BSMods collaboration. I would have voted split teams. Simply so we can potentially see 2 properly done systems. No offence but LTT systems so far just don't have the attention to detail / quality to build the kind of systems needed to win showdowns like this. BSMods score out for 10 for ur 7 gamers 2 CPUs rig was overly generous imo. A system with that much money in it simply deserved more customisation. hard tubing, bigger better positioned Res, Aurora 2 coolant, lighting etc etc etc.

CPU: Intel i7 3930k w/OC & EK Supremacy EVO Block | Motherboard: Asus P9x79 Pro  | RAM: G.Skill 4x4 1866 CL9 | PSU: Seasonic Platinum 1000w Corsair RM 750w Gold (2021)|

VDU: Panasonic 42" Plasma | GPU: Gigabyte 1080ti Gaming OC & Barrow Block (RIP)...GTX 980ti | Sound: Asus Xonar D2X - Z5500 -FiiO X3K DAP/DAC - ATH-M50S | Case: Phantek Enthoo Primo White |

Storage: Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SSD + WD Blue 1TB SSD | Cooling: XSPC D5 Photon 270 Res & Pump | 2x XSPC AX240 White Rads | NexXxos Monsta 80x240 Rad P/P | NF-A12x25 fans |

Be careful Luke. What I gathered from this video is that you got Facebook's beep beep quite deep into your boop boop and you were being very defensive and protective of Oculus.

I don't want you to choke to death.

I think the price has delayed the widespread adoption of VR by several years and it has confirmed my suspicion that Oculus is a bad company. Palmer likes to talk about how companies should act towards their customers ("talk to fans as friends", "it is critical to keep consumers informed" etc) but he is a perfect example of how not to act.

It's better to say nothing at all to your fans, than it is to spew out lies upon lies.

I live in a capital city in Europe. The Vive is completely impossible for me in any other way than basically renting a presetup room in an arcade like thing.

The Oculus however, will be highly tempting once I could basically have one instead of a monitor.

Split teams would mean the 2 less capable ones (Linus and Luke) will always defer to the pros cos they wanna win.  How are you gonna make it interesting when it's still the pros making the decisions?

Its all down to personal preference. I'd find it more interesting to see 2 well thought out, serious, high quality, high end builds , rather than 1 high end build (possibly handicapped to be 'sportsman like') and one 'average' build.

With split teams, say the BSMod guys do the 'hard' parts like maybe hard tubing runs, and hard mods,  and the LLT guys can do the easier stuff like cable managing, LED placement and stuff. you get some nice rigs imo.

But if they team up, Linus has the free reign to set some interesting rules that will test the skills of the pro and give themselves an advantage.  That would be interesting to watch.
