What compromises did you make on your system?

KWelz

I could have gotten faster ram, but I had some dead NEW sticks. This was the only thing preventing me from getting up and running. So I just ordered overnight the cheapest ram. Ended up getting 2 more sticks of it too.

I brought a H100i to cool a i3 3220 (3.8ghz I think), I was going to get an i5 but because of my impatience I couldn't wait till my next payday so that's why I have an i3 :/

Monitors. Wish I wouldve gotten a 1440p ultrawide instead of 2 1080p and other nonsensical things.

Intel i5-6600K, be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3, Asus MAXIMUS VIII Gene, 16gb Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4, 500gb Samsung 850 Evo, 2tb Seagate Barracuda, GTX 1080 EVGA FTW, Thermaltake Core v21, Seasonic M12II 850W

FX-6300 ;-;

Whats the problem with the FX-6300? I used to have one and it worked like a charm in games. It was oc-d to 4GHz on stock and 4.5 If I remember correctly. I only used it at 4GHz as I didn't have any money to replace it. LOL

gtx 970, should've waited for the 390 to come out and made to with the iGPU

RM series PSU instead of RMi

v300 SSD

4690k when i actually need a 4790k

My v300 SSD Works fine! The write sucks on it now but the read is still 500MB/s

My compromise is cheaping out on both my mobo and cpu and got an i5 4460 and an h97m-hd3 instead a 4590k and some z97 mobo... Well it's not like I need the performance but still I want to oc so much...

Intel core I5 4460, Gigabyte H97M-HD3, Gigabyte gtx 760, 8 GB corsair value ram, Thermaltake core v21, Thermaltake Smart 630W PSU

Alcatel OneTouch D5... IT WORKS!!

I bought a Corsair 900D when I could spend the 300 euros on a much better graphics card...

Why do i always get blue screens? Why not a red one for a change?

I love my 34" 1440p monitor.  This was a must, only downside for mine is its 60Hz, but I am not a pro gamer so not really a bid deal multiplayer wise.  But Oh so much space and NO bezels...so lovely.

Can you sell your monitors and get an ultrawide?  Specially with all the deals going on now?

Saw sandisk deal of nearly a TB of space for 199 on newegg.  Not the BEST ssd but pshhh if its for storage you'll be fine!

Half my fans are pretty good NZXTs and half are cheap CMs. Not that much of a compromise, they were like $7 for a pack of 4, but eh.

Also got a G402 over a G502. I regret my decisions every day.

I love the m3 it's so quaint and speedy.  Not having any spinning discs in a computer is quite refreshing!

I know, I almost died with envy when I saw the performance of the new drives and so damn small.

Not getting a 1TB ssd, or a 980ti to save money as I only planned to game a 1080 60 fps, and 1TB of ssd storage was close to 400 bucks at the time.

500GB SSD was a compromise. I have since had to add another 500GB SSD for more space.

CX600, Aerocool X3 xpredator. That's about it really.

no ssd

Tbh the 3770k can be classed as better than the 4690k everywhere but single threaded performance.

My 2x 980s are running in 8x on an MSI x99s Krait because I am using the Strix editions and the only way to get 16x on both cards is to use the first and third slot, which puts non-blower style cards way too close to each other where temps were not where I wanted them.

Otherwise, I had to opt for a pull-only config with my H80i GT due to my FT02 not having enough extra space above the rear IO to have 2x fans in push/pull as the bottom fan was hitting my ram.  Would have gone with a good air cooler but I bought Dominator Platinum ram which doesn't bode well with CPU cooler clearance (especially with an x99 platform where the RAM is on both sides of the CPU).

The 750GB Green Drive. Because SSDs were not feasible at the time and there was no point buying another HDD as my old system that it came from was too unstable to be re-purposed.
