LTT news a new thread topic area... laptops

Not me

And I never heard anybody ask for it, so I doubt anybody but you to be honest..

EDIT: as pointed out, is the Mobile section not good enough?

I do, because them being in the Mobile area makes no sense to me.

EDIT: You should add a poll just to make this more interesting.

Don't think so, we already have a perfectly good Mobile Devices section.

If so, shouldn't that be "LTT needs a new thread topic area... laptops" And should be mentioned in the forum ideas and suggestions area?

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

who else thinks that LTT could use a section specifically for laptops/ultrabooks?

Just noticed: why did you tag a whole bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with this topic?

Devious :P

so why exactly do laptops and ultrabook need to be separated from phones and tablets?

they are all mobile devices...

i mean there are only 14k topics there...not even close to the most topics in a section

i dont see why it needs to be divided up

I don't really care about laptops, at all, but to me it doesn't make sense that they're put in the same category as phones as they are absolutely nothing alike. If I did care about laptops it would annoy me to death looking for laptop threads amongst phone and laptop threads that I have even less interest in.

Yes, they're mobile devices. But to me it makes no sense that they're in the same section as the phones. Because they're different.

cases and power supplies are different

they have the same section

ssds and HDDs are different

they have the same section

speakers and headphones are different from sound cards

they have the same section

keyboards and mouse pads are different

they have the same section

cpus and ram is different

they have the same section

do you really expect every product to be separated into its own subforum? seriously?

look at how many subforums there already are...34 OF THEM

-snip-

SSD & HDD aren't different as they do the same thing.

No, I don't expect everything else to be put in to it's own subforum. I was talking about the mobile devices subforum.

wow did you not get the point or something?

I thought I made it really obvious, maybe it went over your head

1) laptops and phones are not even as different as CPUs and RAM are

2) there is no reason to have a subforum for every type of product

3) there already are enough, even too many subforums

4) the mobile devices section isnt overflowing with topics so there is no need to divide it

Is that clear enough? Do you get my point now?

Probably isn't overflowing because it's in the bottom. I had a hard time finding it when I was going to ask questions about a laptop, and I was surprised how it was bundled with phones in one category. But we obviously have different opinions, so arguing about it won't change either one of our minds.

Post laptop discussions in the relevaent section? if you have a cpu issue for example it is just as welcome in the CPU forum as people who have a desktop i7.

Because there are too many subforums.

The arrangement of subforums needs some changing. Like New builds needs to be more towards on top. But if you look what is more oriented here, its hardware. Which is taking whole lot of space in the middle of all. And only things above are community and News/reviews sections.
